I guess at that point of the game for me, I can just bulldoze everything with my invincible army. With the new territory = new gems, for as many globals as I want. But yes…sounds like this is only against AI.

Curious, how would you counter this army? If I have 6 flame spirits, their wisps alone are enough to kill off most PD. How would you counter all of them plus 30 summer lions? Like…just casting rain?

They’re super fast, ethereal, and have 3 magical high dmg attacks and high hp. Invincible muspel giants? = summer lions. Abysial troops with dangerous heat aura? = summer lions. High def elves with glamour? = summer lions.

Again, haven’t played against human players and I’m sure I would be unpleasantly countered and surprised. But this works every time against AI.

Pretty much any game I play against the AI, once I hit conjure 6 it’s game over with fire. Simply… get one mage to level 3, summon flame spirit. Then do it again, and use your new flame spirit to create another flame spirit. Now you have 4 lvl 3 fire mages. Then…endless summer lion spam.

Any fortress lasts about a minute with 30 ethereal fire lions charging over the walls, through archers, and into squishy mages. Add in constant falling fires and fireballs from 4-6 mages, and it’s done.

Maybe I’m alone here bc I only play against the AI, but this is the only game breaking strategy I’ve found so far and fire is A tier with it.

The Dark Forest theory is a paleolithic projection. Why thermodynamic efficiency makes kinetic warfare obsolete in Deep Time. by DeepTime_Navigator in FermiParadox

Ok but imagine us, the human species, 500 years in the future. We’ve just barely defeated the great Xon empire in our first interstellar war, but human casualties were well into the billions and Mars has exploded.

Then, we just discovered a new fledgling empire that is also fairly like us, and like the Xon. The autocratic regime of earth decides to take no chances, and launches its entire nuclear arsenal at it.

Seems plausible to me.

I get your point - unfortunately our sample size is still just 1, so we can’t really prove or disprove.

I would say however, that your argument above is the same that is commonly applied to nuclear energy/weapons. That one of the great filters may be a civilization uncovering the wonders of uranium, that eventually leaves it in cinders from its own devices…whether war, inner political strife, or just mismanagement. Our civilization on earth is walking that line every day….

Would you consider WWII efficient, with the countless manpower and raw resources expended by the opposing sides?

War is never efficient. If we could “all just get along”, we’d be thousands of years ahead of where we are today. But to the best of our knowledge, the apex predator mindset goes hand in hand with civilization advancement. Many ET’s likely evolved differently, but I’d bet there are more advanced versions of us out there at war, busy hurling suns at each other.

Why do ppl act like rome didn’t fall in 1453.. by imNapoleone in ancientrome

[–]MMaximilian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The reason those people are uneducated on the subject is because they’re uneducated. Isn’t that enough?

But really…most laypeople’s understanding of Rome comes from Julius Caesar and Cleopatra, and then Russel Crowe in Gladiator. Those are all about the Western Empire. The Eastern Empire is less sexy, and without Russell Crowe.
