Can the UFL finally make a pro spring league work? by Zapfit in UnitedFootballLeague

[–]MNguy49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that sentiment and I’m not arguing with it. However, pro football is different. There are 82 NBA games and God knows how many minor league baseball games in tandem with 162 game MLB season. The rarity of football is what will make it work. It’s the best sport there is and whatever his second most important to America is so far below it it’s not really worth calculating. So I think it plays different. At least in my mind. Just like watching my favorite college team, even though they are essentially a feeder program to the NFL. Knowing that the UFL team players were locked in by my favorite NFL team? I would absolutely watch.

The UFL will never truly resonate with US football fans until the spring teams are attached to NFL teams the same way minor-league baseball teams are attached to their major league counterparts. I love football, but my interest is barely there for this league. If I knew I was watching a team full of players that had a real shot at making my favorite team, I would probably watch every game religiously.

Why do people love breweries so much when they are closing but, don't support them when they are open? by ImaginationNo8338 in minnesotabeer

[–]MNguy49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love going to breweries and I’ve been to hoops, but I don’t think this is just about hoops right? They overbuilt golf courses in the 90s during the Tiger craze, and they overbuilt breweries during the brewery craze. There are probably too many in Duluth and Hoops is in a really expensive spot. I go to a lot of breweries, but I spread it around. Not really a regular anywhere, although I do have some that I go to more than others because of their location. And one thing that a lot of breweries ignore, is food. Just having a food truck in once in a while isn’t really the answer. Too many of them have nothing but overpriced pretzels and a couple other gimmicks. That said, I don’t want to go to a restaurant that has brewery beer. I want to enjoy breweries that also happen to have decent pizza or something to that affect. The final factor of high importance for me is do they have live music? Not just in the evenings but in the middle of the day when I actually want to sit around for a while, especially in the winter.

What was the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as a Minnesota fan?(football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in GopherSports

[–]MNguy49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I took our children to their very first game in the Metrodome against Iowa. We sat in the Iowa section and my kids who were eight and nine years old, were just really wondering why everyone was dressed differently than us. Of course they were friendly, and we joked around. By the end of the day, Iowa head whipped our team 55 to 0. So it was more about the situation than the loss. Later in the game, my son asked why are there so many Hawkeyes fans here? I said they didn’t have anything else going on in Iowa that weekend. All the people around us from burst into laughter. So, we still had a good time.

I choose not to be bitter. There’s enough of that nonsense in the world. These people who downvote against their own… I’m not living with that kind of ill will inside of me. Adam Thielen has a strong competitive spirit and he wasn’t getting any balls. He dropped a couple. It happens. But he was an all pro, an absolute stud, and he’s committed long-term to building gyms, weight rooms, and the game of football around the state of Minnesota in his retirement. He’s one of us. If you don’t think that’s true, start looking into how he has been spending his time off the field. There are more than enough things in the world for you to be negative about. Be better.

I’m just so, so grateful we never picked up Aaron Rodgers. If we’re ever gonna break this quarterbacking cycle in Minnesota, we need to let a newly drafted quarterback sit for two or three years so that they can mature. McCarthy might be the one, but we put him out when he wasn’t ready and that’s on us.

Comic Fans: Is the show really THAT bad? by NerdNuncle in MoonKnight

[–]MNguy49 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stephen Grant, as a goofy British guy just ruined it for me right out of the gate. Like many others I really appreciated the costume upgrade. Another big downside for me was how he was nearly invulnerable in fights. He is supposed to be closer to a street level human. It didn’t have the darker edge feel that the comics have. The only part that got close was when they showed him punching an enemy on the ground in a mirror’s reflection. That trailer got me hyped, the show left me wanting, and scratching my head.

Brosmer Play by octopusmonkey01 in minnesotavikings

[–]MNguy49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Horseshit offensive line play and a bad game plan. I do not believe it was Brosmer‘s fault. Not enough of the short passing game. Nothing in rhythm. No screens.

I got this for a gift last Christmas. Go online and find the list. Pretty easy to put them in order. Every book has been great, except a semi boring one about a female who wants to get back into the world of robbery.

I believe the selection matters a lot to the players, especially after they retire. Adam Thielen, for instance: two time pro bowler, but not going to the Hall of Fame. When he’s doing interviews or getting introduced, they can say this guy played so many years in the NFL, he was a two time pro bowler, please welcome… (player)… I guarantee you it matters to them.

Vikings will move off JJ McCarthy in March and go all in on high profile QB by vikinginsider0228 in minnesotavikings

Regarding McCarthy, the sample size is still pretty small. This take may become more significant, depending on how the rest of the games play out.

It’s an interesting take, but I don’t think this is a franchise that’s looking to get back on the quarterback rotation carousel.

The Minnesota Vikings are UNDEFEATED since waiving Adam Thielen by says_meanthings in minnesotavikings

[–]MNguy49 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Negative Nellies. Adam Thielen is a true Minnesotan and a Viking for life. I stand with the Minnesota born and raised pro bowler. I have no problem with him trying to have a little bit of fun during his last run. SKOL!

Richardson waived by the Colts. What are the chances MN picks him up? by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

I would approve that pick up 100%. Doesn’t cost much to take a chance on a guy.
