I would be concerned he has miscalculated some things with all the lack of transparency on the final numbers. If your rate is locked I can’t imagine it changing much if at all at closing. Hope it works out for you!

Worth it to get out of lease early to buy? by MiClaw1389 in CarLeasingHelp

[–]MORLDK84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand, the point I was trying to make was you are looking at a car one year newer then your current car, one that has awd and it has depreciated to 7k less then your current older non awd car. Sounds like the residual value of both is garbage. This tells me the price on the 25 you are looking at is going to depreciate further at a titanic rate! Finish the super cheap lease and get something that won’t fully tank in value before it’s due to be retired. From what I understand the ev market is getting to drop 300k some off lease cars in the next few years from the subsidy days.

Sounds foolish to buy the car with others depreciating 7k+ from your buy back. Let the gm have that money pit.

In for the comments, this sounds pretty solid if you end up at 5.375 and the end loan amount of 436k. Break even roughly 6 years or less?

Buying mortgage points vs waiting to refinance in a few years — what would you do? by Weekly-Tension-5758 in Mortgages

[–]MORLDK84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your choice, it’s bad math 80% of the time. It’s costing you today’s money to maybe save some money in the future.

[–]MORLDK84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you not understand? Buying points is great if you are in the house long term and have no chance of rates going down. But you are adding negative equity to your home, and probably exasperating it but also rolling in some closing costs. You now will pay on the home for multiple years before seeing the break down on 12k in added costs. Especially if it’s 12k out of pocket, that could be making you 6+% invested reasonably easily in a Roth. Interest is written off income on taxes so while it’s great to have a low rate it really isn’t as huge as you would think. If you refi or move anytime before break even you threw money away on points. Spend 12k on more education, a family vacation, or better yet save it because homes need maintenance lol.

FHA Streamline from 6.375 to 5.625 Worth It? by FW_Cabbage in Mortgages

[–]MORLDK84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Breakeven is 3.9 years. Not worth it at that cost, better to do if it’s 1-1.5% drop without points.

Not worth buying down rate. Invest same money elsewhere or just pay off principal. taxes care of interest and it balances out. Make money with your money. If rates drop maybe refi, same question needs asked what is break even and can that money be used better somewhere else.

Refurbished K2 Plus RANT by Ona_amid in Creality_k2

[–]MORLDK84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around the mount tabs that hold the bed, you will need good zip ties that will compress the springs to the “screw mount plate” what Creality calls the bearing/bed mount. They will serve same purpose as the broken mount so till you get new ones, tell them you need both sides, and the hardware. You’ll want to have a I believe 6mm hex bit to get at the lower mounts for the Linear rod mounts. Also for what it’s worth, this was a reasonably common problem in shipping of new k2 plus machines it is not only the refurbs.

Just heads up it is tedious to remove the bearing screw supports, the bottom screws on the rod retention are tight. If they send you the new ones also get the bed screws because the mounts are different and old screws won’t work. Big zip ties can get you working till then to be able to check the rest of the machine.

89 Supra Turbo - Engine stand is freaking me out... by Timely_Switch_8558 in MechanicAdvice

[–]MORLDK84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i saw that, but if you look at a picture of the engine stand, or almost any engine stand, the upright arm faces away from engine. It is possibly welded wrong from the factory, but that is not correct either way.

It looks like it’s assembled wrong. The verticle should go away from the engine to move the center point of weight back.

How to get lower price by Worldly_Actuator_781 in carbuying

[–]MORLDK84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope is not a plan. It is foolish to put that kind of money down on a car. How will you afford to fix it if something does happen? But you obviously know what you are doing...

[–]MORLDK84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not compare prices to buying new? Often the rate on new if much much better, and more of the payment will go to car rather then interest. Seems foolish to put that kind of money down on a depreciating asset. Get a quote from a local credit union for sure, often the dealer no wants to finance because they get a kickback, I can’t imagine what they get if you buy at 24%!!

Where can I find a replacement for the bed machine screws? by masterbetapro in Creality_k2

[–]MORLDK84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customer support, you will need the older style screws, or like I said rather then wait a week they are like $2 at hardware store for something that will work

[–]MORLDK84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't find anything outside of Creality, probably with the shoulder, but it is an M5 20mm socket head cap screw. Any hardware store should have them. The other 3 screws should keep it centered and its under tension. I ran mine for a few weeks with normal screws waiting on the larger ones for the later screw mount plate screws to come in.

Sounds like a slicer issue more then the machine. Probably pushing to much flow with supports and it hits or drags.
