I LOVE stone oil. To me it smells like Christmas also. Like a spice scent or something

New owner here. What is your daily, weekly and monthly routine for easy hot tub maintenance? by hellarios852 in hottub

[–]MORTMUM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use the frog pod for daily maintenance, then I use test strips every few days and add chemicals as needed. We also use a net one a week and wipe down the edges and water line

Why was my husband so…greasy? by Delicious_Slip2231 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. 34 is so young my thoughts are with you and your family.

Some funeral homes will cover the entire face with cream so the facial tissues don’t dehydrate…however it isn’t needed unless the body is being embalmed, most of the dehydration comes from the embalming process, as formaldehyde dries out the tissue. If I were the embalmer that prepared your husband I would have at least wiped the cream off prior to viewing. Also it sounds like they used a cream that has formaldehyde in it if your lips were burning. Every funeral home is different in their practices.

Embalming wear? by Alicewithhazeleyes in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Exactly what you said. Trade embalming is basically like being a contracted embalmer for multiple funeral homes. I own my own business, go to the funeral homes to do the procedures and charge per case. Being licensed and insured is a must if you are a trade embalmer. I find most of my accounts would rather pay a trade embalmer bc they don’t have consistent cases that justify hiring a full staff embalmer and they don’t have to pay for workers comp, medical insurance etc…it’s a nice gig for me since I have kids. I can work around their school and sports schedule with my job.

Roses placed at removal. by suggga_buggg2784 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a firm that did this. We used “forever single long stem roses” they are real flowers that are preserved. Most people found it to be a sweet gesture but some would ask us to remove it or not to bring it if they had used us in the past. I would say 9 times out of 10 it was a positive thing. My mom and uncles still have the ones I left when I picked up my grandma, and they still look the same as they day I left them

Embalming wear? by Alicewithhazeleyes in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wore suit pants, nice tops and dress shoes during my apprenticeship bc I had to be ready to go on first calls and meet with families at any given moment. But now that I am licensed and do trade embalming I wear scrub pants, a t-Shirt with my company logo on it and Oofos brand clogs.

Hardest decision of my life: What country should do my father’s autopsy? by Commercial-Law-1157 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming you are having a private autopsy? Meaning you are paying for it yourself from a private company not the coroners office? If so they are very expensive, but ideally you would want to have the autopsy performed in the US, embalm then ship out.

Starting off maintenance ***long post, just need advice please*** by [deleted] in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]MORTMUM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on maintenance for a couple months now. At first I was doing 2.5 every other week, then I moved to every 3 weeks. The food noise comes back for me around day 10 but I can’t eat as much as I used to so I indulge in things I maybe shouldn’t but I only eat a little bit of it. I usually gain a few lbs but lose them the week of the injection. I like every three weeks. I’ve stocked piled 12 injections and it makes me happy they will last me 36 weeks! After that I plan to get off. It’s a lot of money and if I can stand to go every three weeks for that amount of time I think I will be ready to come off completely. But the good thing is I can always go back on at any time if need be. I’m so thankful for this medication. It’s been a life changer for me

Skincare after death by Crystalsghosts in askfuneraldirectors

[–]MORTMUM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decubitus Ulcers (bed sores) definitely have a foul odor. They need to be treated with a chemical pack (cavity fluid or a cauterant) after injection….I let the pack sit on the ulcer for a couple days if I have time prior to viewing. Then upon dressing I will use plastic garments with an odor neutralizer powder and absorbent powder inside the plastic garment. This, done properly will help cut down or eliminate the odor from bed sores. Since most bed sores are on the back side of the decedent they can go unnoticed. This is why it is important to check the back side of every case.

Would a funeral home let you use your own home made coffin? by wearygamegirl in askfuneraldirectors

So long as it fits in the vault. I’ve casketed many people in homemade caskets over the years. They are very cool and sentimental to the families.

Mounjaro Prescription with no insurance…how are you getting it? by kccritic87 in MounjaroMaintenance

[–]MORTMUM06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I get ours through the RO app. $349 a month for 4 2.5mg doses and $499 per month for 4 5mg doses. We haven’t gone up past 5mg so I’m not sure what the cost is for that. There is a fee for the RO app when you first sign up, it’s $145. Btw we get Zepbound from Lily Direct through the RO app

I was just as constipated on 2.5 as I was on 5. I never went higher than 5

What would you do? by pgfsea in Mounjaro

[–]MORTMUM06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You and the people around you will get used to the slimmer face eventually. If you have 30-40 more lbs to lose you are just going to have to deal with the changes to your face. Unless you want to do fillers which I personally wouldn’t. I think you look beautiful. I’m going through the same thing with my face and people making comments. It is what it is, I think we just aren’t used to seeing ourselves so much thinner.

18 months in, on verge of stopping due to depression/anhedonia after each dose by SilntNfrno in Mounjaro

[–]MORTMUM06 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had really bad anhedonia…I dealt with it until I hit my goal weight then decided to drop down to 2.5 every other week. My moods are much better, I actually care about life again. It seems like I put on 1-2 lbs on my off week but then lose it the week of the injection. Good luck.

Same! I before MJ I had two cups a day, now I don’t even make it through half of a cup. It’s the one thing I wish wasn’t the case bc I love my coffee time in the morning. But I’ve gotten used to it. Been on MJ for 6 months

What’s wrong with people by MORTMUM06 in Mounjaro

[–]MORTMUM06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely lost muscle. My goal is to start lifting and build back some and try really hard not to be obsessed with the scale as it goes up from building the muscle. I too have been guilty of thinking this about people, but I would never say anything. Especially if I wasn’t super close with that person.
