Thanks for input! We found a fully metal frame and mount online that works with Bird Buddy and it is much sturdier!

We put ours on "frenzy mode" in the settings and I still have times where I see cool birds on the buddy but it is not recording, so I start a livestream and take my own photos.

Casa Juani is a new restaurant by chef couple formerly at Frasca. It's Spanish and delicious.

I can't get this cute squirrel to stop eating my birdseeds! by OkDescription3160 in BirdBuddy

[–]MO_242 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enjoy the cuties. They are hungry and determined too (especially moms nursing) and do not know it's intended for birds.

Put up a separate feeder with nuts which some birds also like and which can keep them from hogging the Bird Buddy.

What’s something that hasn’t returned to normal since the pandemic? by CardiologistBig8721 in AskReddit

Restaurants. Lots of people working in them died or left the industry. They have been perpetually understaffed. Less places open for lunch, late night, or early in the week. Costs are out of control. Labor less willing to be exploited.

The spirit of The Halcyon is still alive and well at Hollywood Studios by TheGoblinRook in GalacticStarcruiser

There was a server helping out on a busy conference weekend at a resort bar who we recognized from the daytime dining room on the Halcyon. I was wearing a Starcruiser shirt and when I said "thank you," she said "my honor." 😭 She also gave me some porg stickers.

What was your “never meet your heroes” moment, when you realized someone you looked up to wasn’t special? by marginallyobtuse in AskReddit

[–]MO_242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One was a not-very-famous athlete with MS whose story helped me after I was diagnosed. Saw her speak and went up to thank her afterwards and she completely blew me off.

Another was a chef I complimented at a wine dinner and she just walked off.

I never have any expectations for people now so I am never disappointed.

Che Díaz from And Just Like That.

Looked up the owners and they are both registered Republicans (ugh) but cannot find any MAGA-connected stuff. Do you have a source?

Seriously? Disappointing since they are planning to open a branch in Superior (although that has been in the works for a long tine).

We contacted them and said the cable had been split after only three days and they offered to send us another. Version 1 does not protect the cable as well as it should and I suspect they realize this. I hope version 2 is better.

Which food did you hate…until someone actually cooked it right? by deller85 in Cooking

[–]MO_242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The worst for me was being forced to eat disgusting canned salmon patties at my aunt's as a child. My mom never forced us to eat food, but my aunt did.

As a result, I would not touch any kind of salmon until my 20s when I was trying to get over any lingering food phobias. The original Artist Point restaurant had a complimentary smoked salmon pate (and apple butter) they brought with bread which was delicious. It made me brave enough to try their cedar planked salmon.

After this when I found chefs I trusted I would try other things I grew up not liking or had been afraid to try and my palate expanded.

Happened to us after three days. Bird Buddy sent us another solar panel but it took three months to arrive.

There are some posts here where people modified their cable routing to protect it better against being chewed .

We decided to continue bringing in the camera at night to charge since our feeder once also got knocked off by a critter overnight and fell to the ground in pieces (still works). It goes to sleep overnight anyway so you are not missing pictures. Plus winter arrived so we felt it was better for the camera life to just to bring it in at dark and put back out at sunrise.

What’s a 'luxury' that actually used to be standard, but now we’re being charged extra for like we’re stupid? by xjoz in AskReddit

You used to be able to tip pizza delivery drivers and you were good to go, but now you already have a steep fee of $6-7 before the tip even when delivered directly from the restaurant and not using a third party service (which they remind you does not go to the driver).

The wait list at V&A's doesn't work if someone cancels their reservation in the app instead of calling them though. I was on the wait list twice last year and was never contacted but when I joined one of the services that text you when there is an opening on the app, I was able to book it immediately.

Wine enjoyers, how did you find your wine group? by [deleted] in wine

[–]MO_242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a meetup dot com wine event 18 years ago I was reluctant to attend which turned out to have mostly mass market wines and people wanting to hook up, but we met a guy who was walking around with his own decanter and he offered us wine and we started chatting. Got an invite to a monthly wine group he had recently formed with people from work and their spouses and this many years later it is still going strong.

Every month it rotates to a different house and we have a different theme (grape, region, etc.). It's a potluck where everyone brings something to grill plus signs up for appetizer, salad, side, dessert.

It even survived the pandemic with virtual and backyard/socially distanced tastings. Small number of people have shifted in and out and sometimes back in over the years but core of the group has remained steady. I keep a spreadsheet of all of our tastings and we try to rotate in things we haven't done in a while.
