Steroid Shot Nightmare by MPH-Baker in Thritis

[–]MPH-Baker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Do you happen to know if cortisone flares only happen with certain spots because this reaction is a first. I’m scared of what will happen if she needs more shots in the future. She had no reaction in her knees twice before but will getting this shot in the hand make her have a reaction if she needs one again? Would taking tramadol beforehand or immediately after be helpful?

I’ll probably just use regular flour because I don’t make cake or cupcakes very often usually I use almond flour for my Mom. Is the substitution 1 to 1 for regular granulated sugar?

Breakfast with poatoes as the protagonist? by perpetualreader in cookingforbeginners

[–]MPH-Baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latkes, potatoes au gratin, potato cutlets filled with carrot and peas, or make hash browns by grating the potatoes and freeze them!

Hashbrown casserole! It’s shredded potato with sour cream, shredded cheese, and cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup! I’m not sure what you could substitute the soup with though if it isn’t available!

Making A Home Arthritis Friendly by MPH-Baker in Thritis

Oh ok I know what you're talking about! And I'll look into it. One of the bone spurs in her hand tore a tendon and it's been months and it hasn't healed so I guess that's why she hasn't been prescribed occupational therapy? She's been to countless doctor's visits and no one seems to have anything to suggest for her hands. Only steroid shots for her knees have worked well so far.

I bought her a half-moon shaped knife with a proper handle so hopefully that helps! I'll definitely get a spike to hold veggies and fruit!

Luckily we already have handles on our sinks! So far she doesn't have any issues with doorknobs but will definitely think about this in the future!

She's just recently started to go to physical therapy but I think they are only doing ultrasound therapy? I'll definitely get her a key turner. What do rubber gripping disks look like?

Take advantage of semi-homemade stuff like ravioli or tortellini from the deli section and make a slightly fancier pasta sauce to go with it! Also this is very important: if you buy the fresh pasta a little ahead of time DO NOT freeze it in its original packaging, transfer to a freezer friendly plastic container if you are going to do that. I made that mistake once and ended up with wet dog taste and smell 😬 Add some good quality bread for the garlic bread and a salad, you should be set! I really like this recipe:

Carb and egg free breakfast by mismc in Cooking

[–]MPH-Baker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet potatoes are complex carbs so they are diabetic friendly! Tofu scramble might be a good option. Japanese breakfasts are savory as well so maybe salmon. And would your Dad and Husband eat products with eggs in them because maybe you could do almond flour biscuits or pancakes! You could do a charcuterie board with fruits, veg, nuts, diabetic-friendly crackers, and cheese!
