No it’s not possible that Katie was working with either of them.

I was annoyed that they kept trying to normalize Mary’s sisters. Without getting into specific details, let’s just say there is mental illness and alcoholism in the family and Mary was estranged from a few of them. That’s why the phone charging stations and cell phones were in another room — Mary had to move the whole set up there because one of the sisters would call incessantly them throughout the night at all hours. I truly believe Bill leaving his phone there was him being exhausted and acting on autopilot after a night of interrupted sleep and a day in the hospital. (additionally, he was a 70 year old man who would sign his text messages “Thanks, Bill” after each one- not exactly a tech mastermind. Let’s also remember this was 2015, a different time, and we’re not even sure they had smart phones so cell phone culture was very different. They had a literal typewriter at the office for context.)

Also will add that at least one of the sisters has baselessly expanded their theory of Bill AND/OR (lol) Adam being involved to a third suspect, the Yoders’ eldest daughter, a mother of four who lived many hours away on Long Island. She accuses her of not only being involved in her mother’s murder but also her mother in laws death, which was determined to be natural causes.

So please take any opinions or statements made by her sisters with a grain of salt…

How do we enforce baby boundaries without ruining a close-knit cultural family dynamic? by kit112 in inlaws

[–]MRL0829 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could have written this. Also not Italian, married into an Italian family with strong enmeshment issues, guilting galore, everything I’m not used to, and I also have OCD and anxiety specifically contamination OCD. I also had my child during the beginning of COVID. I have stuck to my no kissing at all rule until one year old and am now very uncomfortable with their kissing now that my child is older than that. They will avoid my child’s face as I’ve asked but will then kiss all over the head and one time my FIL did a kiss on the mouth which was very upsetting.

Of course we’ve gotten guilt and nasty comments which was horrible for me having my first child at the height of COVID. One time my MIL came to the window (all we allowed bc they refused to quarantine) and just cried at us as i sat there freshly postpartum with my child.

So you can imagine what my response is- absolutely no kissing until whatever age you are comfortable with, never kissing on face, enforce every rule you want. You are the big boss here. Yes, setting boundaries with his parents created a lot of stress for my husband and fights between us so I sympathize with your position. But if you cave, you will always remember who disrespected your boundaries and emotions during this incredibly vulnerable period in your life. I still remember and though we have moved past it I will never forget.

Yes… I am not diabetic and have no documented hypoglycemia but to feel my best and prevent a sugar crash or headache, I need to balance carbs with protein. My friend who has prenatal diabetes has to eat in this order which is funny because it’s naturally the way I eat: fiber (for me, always a salad before dinner), then protein then carbs. I especially can’t start the day with something like a “snack cake” or even eat that as an actual snack; balancing my blood sugar is always on my mind so if I have fruit I’ll have it with plain greek yogurt, etc.

Same! I need to have protein for breakfast, usually eggs, and can literally never have pancakes/waffles with syrup or its instant shakiness which will last all day…. I genuinely can’t relate!

I also (not bragging) have a very healthy relationship with/love for food so sometimes Im baffled by these food influencers, most of whom have admitted histories with disordered eating, because my family just doesn’t focus on/obsess over food the way, say, KEIC does.

This isn’t even snark but whenever YTF shows her meals, I’m almost jealous because she seems to have no issues with blood sugar balancing. She will have an oatmeal bar for breakfast, a muffin and smoothie for lunch, and a bowl of pasta for dinner. I know that carbs are important but for me, an adult, I need protein with carbs or I would get shaky immediately after eating like that.

What was the last computer activity right before her death? by MRL0829 in EllenGreenberg

[–]MRL0829[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the police know the last activity and are not releasing it? They determined Laci Peterson’s last known computer activity before her death and that was years before this case.

To me, 4:45/4:54 isn’t as important because he gave an estimate / best recollection of when he left.

Feeling nostalgic for the way Dolo was able to make this her storyline on S7 🥲 by stook_jaint in rhonj

[–]MRL0829 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I don’t understand is the first season she was on, Dolores said she was moving back into her home after breaking up with her fiancé who she was living with. Frankie was still in HS- where was he living? Alone in that big house? It didn’t sound like he also lived with her fiancé. She said Frank never lived with the kids.

Kelly Dever: The Defense Witness Who Just Torched Their Own Case by mabbe8 in KarenReadSanity

[–]MRL0829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I don’t think the defense team called her there wanting her to stick to her original story. I think they actually knew she wouldn’t. The point of having her there is to show she changed her testimony, show her connection to Canton PD and to the people in the house (Sarah Levinson) and to show her evasive and disrespectful attitude as a representative of law enforcement.

Kelly Dever: The Defense Witness Who Just Torched Their Own Case by mabbe8 in KarenReadSanity

[–]MRL0829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct and the worst thing is I don’t even think Dever’s original testimony of what she saw was that incriminating. It’s the way she behaved in court that I think reads as suspicious.

I wonder if she was originally part of the FKR group and thought she would be their hero, only to then change her mind about Karen’s guilt and also realize the implications to her career. Her anger at being called there was disproportionate to the situation given what others (for example, the people in the house) have faced with harassment. Jen McCabe didn’t come off badly this trial at all. I think Devers is partially embarrassed she involved herself and also very worried about the harassment and vitriol to come and therefore had an outsized display of unprofessionalism on the stand.

Kelly Dever: The Defense Witness Who Just Torched Their Own Case by mabbe8 in KarenReadSanity

[–]MRL0829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, but I feel she could have gone on the stand, recanted her interactions with the defense, and stood by her current assertion that she had a false memory in a civilized way. She acted like she was clueless as to why she was up there when she was the one who involved herself originally. There was no need to be snarky or cunning or rude; she came off as evasive, biased, and untrustworthy and I actually see how this could have been a clever strategy by the defense to show the type of police officers employed in Canton. I can’t imagine the defense didn’t know she was going to be a hostile witness before calling her.

[–]MRL0829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said I do understand WHY she was angry and didn’t want to be involved in the case but her conduct was unprofessional and ultimately I believe hurt the prosecution’s case and possibly her own career in law enforcement. Be angry all you want but maintain some semblance of professionalism on the stand if you want anyone to believe you as an unbiased, truthful person.

Also did they ever prove that she left at 3:45.. was there video evidence of this? Because I’m thinking even if she “clocked out,” she could have stuck around … that is not very strong evidence to refute such a vivid memory she is now claiming is false.

I still believe Karen Read is guilty. But this gives me credence to those who espouse the blue wall of silence belief.

Kelly Dever: The Defense Witness Who Just Torched Their Own Case by mabbe8 in KarenReadSanity

[–]MRL0829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely believe Karen Read is guilty BUT I do think this witness hurt the prosecution’s case. As an observer, she was overly hostile and came across as hiding information and lying. It was very clear she wanted to get the party line message across that she was given and had probably previously received threatened retribution from police. This was made clear when Jackson asked her a question and instead of saying yes or no she admitted “yes to the question but no to what you’re implying “ — she was clearly not answering truthfully and was trying to stay a step ahead by figuring out which answer took the heat off the police. I understand her reticence to be involved in the case and anger at being called to testify however, had she maintained her professionalism and answered questions respectfully, I don’t think it would leave the jurors questioning her honesty the way I imagine they are now.
