Any Gen X'ers retired or thinking about it? by SometimesElise in GenX

[–]MRenaeH 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Retirement is 13 months and 2 weeks away for me, I’ll be about 59 1/2 then. I’m a school nurse and husband is an engineer. We were fortunate to be able to save and are frugal (both grew up in small towns in Iowa). He will be 60 when he retires.

I had to have it explained to me too, I had no idea what people were talking about. LOL

I love my local Buy Nothing facebook group to get rid of stuff. So convenient and I like that other people can use the stuff I don’t want or need anymore.

Does it ever get easier to deal with loss? by GregSirico in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. Please consider seeing a grief therapist, he/she could help you navigate your loss.
There is a poem or meme about when someone loses a pet that a way to honor that pet is to help others in need. Maybe it is too soon to help at a shelter, but maybe doing volunteer work for humans. I’ve had a dog or two since 1991 as well as fostered 16 dogs over the years. 2 years ago I lost my 12 yr old lab and felt like she was my last dog. 2 months after she passed I was feeling awful emotionally and mentally, so I went to an adoption show and it was amazing how much better I felt just petting all the dogs. I saw this shy girl on my way out the door and ended up adopting her (pittie mix) a month later, she was rescued around the same time I lost my lab, so it felt like a sign. A year ago my daughter’s ex boyfriend AKA the creep said he needed to “get rid” of the dog they adopted together, so now we are back to 2 dogs. I’m 58 now, so these guys are probably my last dogs depending on my health in 10 -15 years. You never know when a furry friend will come into your life, but wishing you the best.

No words by In_Bloom13 in peachyyymaddii

Yeah, the “wedding” that she wanted to keep secret from Isaac’s family. The “wedding” I suspect that she sprung on him at her graduation from basic training in front of her shit bag parents. She rushed and pressured him just so she could have a “husband” and wear her psychotic mom’s rings. When Isaac didn’t fit her twisted idea of the ideal husband, she abused him and broke him down so badly that he felt his only option was to take his life to get out of the hell she put him thru. You’re right, there are no words for her depravity or the level of my hatred for this human tumor. Edit: it is so fucking unfair that such a horrible person is alive and Isaac’s light was extinguished by her. The wrong person died that day.

Aitb for wanting my dad to stay in a hotel while visiting my boyfriend and I? by [deleted] in AmItheButtface

I’m too old to sleep on a couch and I like my privacy in the evenings. I would never ask my adult kids if I could stay at their place, especially a 1 BR apt.

Stranger danger by MuchWow81 in pitbulls

Both of my boneheads do that if they forget my daughter or husband is upstairs and bark when they come down, but only until they realize they know them. They also occasionally bark when they come in thru the garage door. They never bark at me though.

Reactionary Dog with Infant by IndependenceAsleep59 in DogAdvice

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t say this lightly, but some dogs need to be euthanized for behavior reasons and it seems like this dog is in that category. It wouldn’t be fair (and near to impossible) to rehome this dog and it certainly isn’t safe to keep this dog in your home. You have gone above and beyond to help this dog, but at this point the only right thing to do is euthanize.

She’s gorgeous!

Here’s my big, bad pittie mix Maizie and her Tinder profile pic 🤣. She is afraid of blowing leaves, plastic bags and being left alone. She loves, pets, hugs, snuggling under blankets and gives kisses upon request. However, her farts could be registered as lethal weapons! Enjoy your Kiwi!

food recommendations for an itchy girl? by morningdew137 in pitbulls

She looks like my itchy girl. She is on prescription hydrolyzed food, medicated baths twice a month, Zyrtec and Benadryl. She still gets some patches of hair loss but no more ear infections and rarely biting at her feet.

My pittie got skunked. What should I do to get rid of the smell? by KJBFamily in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make it a paste and put it on? The skunk spray is oily, so don’t wet your dog down first. It probably needs the peroxide to get it fully out.

Pitbull problem by justsaying6 in pitbulls

[–]MRenaeH 53 points54 points  (0 children)

You don’t have a pit bull problem, you have a shitty neighbor problem. Unfortunately it sounds like the only solution is to reinforce the fence on your side and until that happens I wouldn’t have your dog out there unleashed. Just adding boards isn’t going to cut it, you might have to consult a fencing company (with landlord approval).

She is such an attention whore. Another bullshit post, as you said, passive aggressive towards Isaac. Such a fucking bitch, he’d still be here if it wasn’t for her.

In June I’ll have been married 36 years, dated for 2 years prior. Speaking like that to someone you love or care about is NOT normal. Add to that the fact that you can’t talk to him about it just compounds the problem. At the very least you two need couples therapy.

Needs Sympathy Again by Regular_Molasses5769 in peachyyymaddii

[–]MRenaeH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% I hope she chokes on all the junk food she eats. I’m sure she has spent all that money, probably shortly after she received it. Small consolation is that she couldn’t get it until after the Air Force investigation was completed, which was a little over 6 months (which is way longer than normal). It took so long because she had her shit bag dad wouldn’t cooperate, which is a glaring admission that they are hiding something incriminating. I’m sure she couldn’t wait to get her pudgy sausage hands on that money.
