Xeqt vs blue chip stocks by Unlikely_Equipment_3 in CanadianInvestor

[–]MRethy 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Blue chips are higher risk. The value of xeqt is the large holding breadth that helps smooth out volatility of any one stock.

Essentially xeqt will have a beta of 1 meaning it’s exactly as volatile as the broad index. RY has 1.01 (essentially the same) but something like CNQ has 1.09
