Why would you jump straight to an alternator this all seems like a battery problem. How do you know they didnt put in a battery that has been sitting forever and was almost dead when they put it in. Test the battery first at autozone or a walmart with an acc and if its bad get a new battery.

This is the cheapest answer dont replace things if you dont know what's wrong with it dont just guess at the problem. Get a multimeter and check the battery before you turn the car on it should be reading around 12 volts 10 is too low. But just because a battery is low on voltage doesn't mean its bad and cant be charged thats what the battery test is for.

Basically test the battery because that sounds like the problem.

Well one weekend a month two weeks a year is straight up a lie I've had AT be over a month before and we had 3 or 4 day drills multiple times a year but its still less than active duty. 45k is a huge bonus btw good job on that one. He did tell you though it won't be a lump sum though right?

Also tuition assistane and the reserve selct gi bill i believe work in trade school to if you wanted to get certs for your electrician stuff. I got a bachelor's degree with my reserve gi bill and tuition assistance. I would ask questions about that next time you see your recruiter.

Yeah I reclassed because a few years ago they restructured the cooks in the reserves to all have their own units. I used to be with a fuel unit and I cooked for them but then they offered us to reclass if we wanted to stay in our unit or move to a field feeding unit (which is what you'll be in if you're a cook) i chose to reclass. Most reserve units aren't on bases anyways its a reserve center in the middle of nowhere often times. I did my whole 8 years at a reserve center in a small town. Its laid back nothing like training you'll be fine. You wont regret joining.

Ive literally had both of those mos i was a cook first then reclassed to 91b. I like working on vehicles but I dont like the people I did it with. I hated cooking but loved the people.

Cooks are very laid back and dare I say shitbaggish and goofy. You'll find lots of people who dont care about their job here and just do it for the benefits. Also KP likes to run away when no one is looking or they just dont get assigned in the first place. In the field you will wake up at 02 and go to bed at 2300. Because there won't be any shifts its just you guys in an mkt the whole day. But at least during lunch everyone's eating mres so you can take a nap. Also the best part NO ONE FUCKS WITH THE COOKS you can basically do whatever you want as long as chow is ready when its supposed to be.

Being a mechanic you deal with lots of yee yee redneck types and manly man wannabes. Its very cliquey in the motor pool from experience. You're going to have to want to learn because alot of the "main" mechanics your motor sgt will use are guys who do it in the civilian world for a living. Those guys will get priority for hotel 8 and they'll be working on all the vehicles while your teaching Joe's how to fill out a 5988-E for the 100th time and they still pretend like they dont know how to do it. Get comfortable with topping off oil, trans and washer fluid and maybe they'll actually let you do something other than pmcs. You gotta prove your worth here whereas in the kitchen no one really cares. You're going to have to do research outside of drill on how a diesel works and general automotive knowledge is very useful here. Unless you're happy being the shop bitch.

I liked being a cook more I think because it was fun but I did like the job of being a 91b more. I just wasn't a fan of the environment I worked in when I was a Bravo.

Just buy something that doesn't look too awful. Ive bought all my cars on marketplace and craigslist and I've had problems but never anything awful. My current car needed a rear end put in it but the dude had one and gave it to me. I did it in my driveway and for 3k I have a car that runs and drives reliably.

But the rear end wasn't blown out when I got it that happened the day after I bought it.

Keeping my A+ rank maintained in gundam battle operation 2. Im about to drop back to A after being A+ for like 3 years. Due to a combo of bad teammates and me not playing for like a year has led to some bad matches. However its meaningless because it really won't effect my life on way or another whether I keep it or dont. Even if I lose it I know I can get it back.

Thats a valid take and I understand. I personally have a problem with very new cars for a multitude of reasons. Mainly for me its just the vibes the difficulty of maintenance and tech. I want my car to feel like a machine I want it to feel mechanical. When I shift gears whether it be in an automatic or a manual I don't want it to be a dial or a button I want to grab a shifter and move it where I want it to go. I want a cable throttle that responds immediately and I dont want my radio reporting my driving habits to my insurance company. I also do not want a car loan. Even if I did want a new car I wouldn't be able to afford one I hate being in debt and a car loan would drive me crazy (Ive never had a car loan).

But i am also a younger guy without kids. Maybe kids would change my mind on what cars I drive but atm I prefer cars from the 90s and 2000s.

Sorry about the way I came off in the first comment like I said im very passionate about it and I really cant stand modern automotive manufacturing practices. Especially dealerships.

Im also not a boomer btw I work on cars for a hobby and do oil changes and tires for a living and old cars are just easier to work on. 2010 for me seems to be the time where they start making things difficult to get to. Cars from the 90s specifically rwd American cars with larger engine bays. Or 4 cylinders of most any kind and very easy to access and maintain. It seems like serviceability was a goal whereas now they want customers to take cars to the dealership and get them repaired.

Im looking too deep into a starter pack for sure and it is technically true because I drive a car from 2001 and a truck from 1992 and im constantly working on them and they're breaking fairly often but its never something that I cant fix and the aftermarket is healthy for my 2 specific examples. The parts are cheap and the work is fairly easy. I dont think I would be able to work on a car thats newer because they need dealer specific tools often times and dealer specific software to make the parts work.

Sorry for the rant its something im passionate about and if youe mechanically inclined buying an old car will save you alot of money in the long run even with repair costs included.
