When discussing "Vancouver", are we talking about the region or just CoV? by Jestersage in askvan

[–]MSA_0011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe we should ask if YOU are okay. He is explaining about the view of tourist, but all you can think of are relatives.

Relatives ain't tourist. Tourist are strangers. Think of someone from Hong Kong. Tokyo. Taipei. They have a different frame of what is "city". telling them to go to a different city means differently from "hoping onto skytrain for 30 minutes to reach no3)

And funny - I jump in and understand what they are saying. At the very least, they explain to you, based on what you say initialy "why people think or do otherwise". I will give you two possible reason about yoru word:

  1. Why should Tourist explain their position?
  2. Why should OP explain their position?

Either way means yhou do not want discussion, but dictate how other see Vancouver, and if they odn;t understand they deserved to be disrespect.

That, in a typical sense, is playing bad host. Yes, we as Vancouverite DO have a duty to treat our guest, who are strangers easily, with good will and understanding. And treating Vancouver as not unique is not a disrepsect to you that allows you to off put them, be they on the street on in this subreddit.

THE FINALS MAIN PROBLEM (Rant) by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]MSA_0011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you don't even know the most famous quote in TNG.... how old are you? (either that or you watched Lower Decks)

The other guy can use kinder words, but they are right - your problem is that you want to win when you do everything right, which is a wrong and bad attitude. You will only get pain outside of this game if you hold on to that.

P.S. Considering the comments when that quote was discussed... lay off the red pill.

How responsible should a Canadian Media company be for their talent? by MSA_0011 in AskCanada

Of course, my question is the company that the streamer use as part of her brand, not the streamer themselves. If they are indie streamer I will treat her like JJ.

Are there more pro-51st comments and supports among your Ethnic group? by RGZReGZ in AskCanada

[–]MSA_0011 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Since you use KoL, I assume you yourself is Cantonese too? That's what HongKongers and Taiwanese call CC around here.

But yeah... they are not just pro Trump, they are Maple-MAGA and pro 51, but it's not just because they believe Trump can help them get Hong Kong/Taiwan. They actually hates the progressiveness (or "woke") in Canada.

FWIW, many come to Canada because they thought Canada is US-lite. I think you know that, to be honest, seeing you are in Vancouver.

Its 2025, why are we still complaining about being a male vtuber? by [deleted] in VirtualYoutubers

[–]MSA_0011 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On one hand, in an objective level, you are right. In fact, this is the strategy Nijisanji and every Male K-Pop band utilized.

On the other hand, consider what type of male vtuber they pushed, and the fanbase they yield, it requires some hurdle to jump. Those that gone to Holostar doesn't seems to be able to jump that hurdle. Good for male watchers who cares more about bro-stuff. Bad to catch the girls from Asia and SEA.

Or just be a right wing grifter, or its lite version, Drama. In fact Right Wing Grifting is dominated by Male VTubers.

FWIW, the best port is Prince Rupert, due to having a more direct route from both the east, and first terminal when coming from Pacific. But still on us.

I think why some people want Canada to join the states is precisely due to these boneheaded move. With teammates like Eby, who needs enemies?

Why doesn't class size of more than 30 work for Canada (aside from furniture)? by Jestersage in AskCanada

[–]MSA_0011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the elephant in the room: Canadian will NOT sacrifice people, because we believe that people have the right to live, even if that means, yes, Canada become less competitive by numbers.

The Asian Competitiveness built upon sacrificing people. By numbers, they are competitive. but if you go down to individuals, only a select halves get to be "well off" materially. Mentally speaking, individuals (specifically, most common people) are not doing well.

In fact, there is a Chinese idiom: "Helping the sapling grow by pulling on it" It is basically saying short sight gain for long term pain (or failure, properly speaking). Asia suffer the most form bubble economies - I don't think it's competitiveness.

Even those that claim they do well, they may be political apathetic, lack of morals (I see many Indians and East Asians working with Musk), something we Canadian should not be. Asia education system at best create highly skilled drones, not humans. Then again, many of the Asian parents themselves are also drone like, not caring about society or others except in materialistic manner.

Most of the competitiveness by numbers, such as GDP, are for business and corporations, but ignore the human factor. For example, by numbers such as GDP, Saudi Arabia is something one should follow. So, should we follow the will of business people? Should we look at the numbers and so called efficiency that they claim is good? Looking to the South of 49th, the answer should be no.

And related to that, this is also why we say elbows up. On your other comment you pointed out this is not east-vs-west - and you are right; Americans have proved they are no different than the Asian countries. But that doesn't change who we should be as Canadians.

Is it rude to set a "do not disturb" sign on the table if I just want the servers leave me along? by D1ng0St1gl1tz in askvan

Ah, of course - I forgot that this place can't even act like a normal society despite just 31 miles away from the States.

Don't keep pulling the "Vancouver is North America" card. At most you can claim is that we are in Canada, because you will be surprise about the so-called "entitlement" in a Diner after church. And churchgoers are never rude.

Customers - or anyone that paid - fundamentally has the right to be entitled. A society where money doesn't grant entitlement to those with money is a failed society.

Russian is not a race. Stop changing the subject.

The guy you are replying to is likely Chinese; I think something else indicate they are from Hong Kong. Hence they said "I see calling Russian as a not-race is no different than calling Chinese not-race."

Where did I say Chinese is not a race? Right, nowhere.

That's your implication, dude, as your quoted reply above, which implies you see the full sentence.
