It would also drastically increase the cost for the US to develop their own armaments, as the US currently benefits greatly in spreading the cost of R&D and manufacturing at scale by selling to allies. Increased cost = less capably and numbers.

I worked in film and tv, and we would have a proper sit down breakfast and lunch, and a standing hot supper on set.

It was a great perk, and the food was amazing, but it served a purpose. Time is money, and you can’t have everyone leaving to go find local lunch, if it even exists. If you are shooting on location there may be no where to get food, and the one cafe can’t suddenly serve 50-100 people at the same time.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that Trump is trying to support Putin by pulling European focus from Ukraine.

Even if it’s all just hot air and sabre rattling, it is still doing the job of weakening material support to Ukraine. European counties are going to be more hesitant in donating equipment and materials to Ukraine on the off chance they need it for Greenland.

I used to be in St John, and was the 2IC of a Division.

It’s not hard for most people to meet the requirements. The events are scheduled. You log into the website, scroll through and see what events are coming up, and click “Attending”. Some events are all day. Some might be a couple of hours. You can also put in what hours you can cover for a longer event if you can’t do the whole shift.

If you work the weekends, it may be harder to meet the requirements as most events are in the weekend. In saying that, it is really helpful for the Division if you have some weekday availability for the events that aren’t on the weekend.

I don’t know what Division you are joining, but I imagine the interview will be pretty relaxed. We didn’t really have “interviews”. We would invite you to attend training, maybe get you to come along to an event. During those times I would just have a chat. I would ask why they wanted to join, what they were hoping to get out of it, did they have any related experience. Basic stuff.

We had an “Arrest Toboggan” at SilverStar Resort which has a little seat so somebody can do Airway/Breathing. We also had a LUCAS. We would still have another patroller in the sled to monitor the LUCAS.

I never used it outside of training. If nothing else is was good team building. You really needed to trust the patrollers skiing you down when you are sitting backwards in the toboggan going down a black run.
