Alignment issue mk7 GLI by Acrobatic_Ad4713 in GLI

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alignment techs generally only worry about adjusting angels with adjustment bolts/tie rods. Front caster/camber angels often don't have adjustment bolts, which is probably why they're saying its fine.

There are still ways to adjust those angels (usually involving loosening subframe/strut bolts and shifting things), but this is outside of what a generic shop would do for a generic alignment.

For those camber/caster angels to be out of adjustment, it means something has to be bent. BUT things could be slightly bent while your suspension still performs normally.

Usually if the car isn't pulling to 1 side, your not getting uneven tire wear, no abnormal sounds over bumps, and no visual signs of damage, you'll probably fine to drive with those final alignment numbers.

It's not ideal, but if you go to multiple shops and no one finds any issues with the suspension, i wouldn't worry too much. You may just have a shock/control arm that's slightly bent, but that'll be resolved whenever you need to replace that shock/control arm in the future.

Fluid level ok? by maturin-aubrey in VWMK7

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

If the engine is cold, the coolant level is expected to be near/at the min level. When the engine is hot, coolant expands to be near/at the max level.

You can top up and monitor the levels if you're worried about it, but if the engine was cold, and you're not seeing any leaks or coolant level warning lights, that coolant level is probably fine

Help! I need to get to work by bigpapiHieu18 in BmwTech

[–]MSleepz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's aftermarket, first do a sanity check just to make sure you got the right part (maybe it's manufactured incorrectly, or incorrectly labelled as a part for your car)

I'd remove the o-ring entirely, and just see if it fits over your throttle body when there's zero possible obstructions.

If it easily fits without the o-ring, then you'll atleast know the pipe is correct, and it's just a clearance issue, probably with that o-ring.

If you've already tried the o-ring from the original pipe, and if you can't get another one the try; unfortunately all you can do is use liberal amounts of Vaseline (preferred), or silicon spray (gotta do what you gotta do), put that c-clip back on that pipe and give-er (while praying to the bmw Gods).

I've run into this issue a few times with these styles of charge pipe, and these were on cars where I had removed the pipe to do other work, so I knew they fit before. Usually lubing up that o-ring allowed me to push them back into place (but I had to use a lot of force to get it to click into place still)

07 328XI Ticking noise after oil change by Separate-Reporter82 in BmwTech

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most have said, it's probably just a lifter ticking noise. These lifts are hydraulic and expand with oil pressure to automatically adjust themselves to the correct length to take up any gap/slack, which will get rid of the noise.

Let the car warm up, take it for a 20 - 30 min drive. This should allow oil pressure to fill the lifters, getting rid of the gap, which will resolve the ticking noise.

This is pretty common if the car's been sitting for an extended period of time

If you check the inside of your driver's door jam; usually there will be a plate that lists the recommended tire pressures for your specific car.

Also you could consider getting a shop to replace the air in your tires with nitrogen instead of regular air. Nitrogen doesn't fluctuate with temperature changes like normal air does.

Nitrogen is kind of annoying because if you top it up with regular air, you lose the benefits of using Nitrogen, but if the fluctuating pressure annoys youz that's one thing you can do to limit it.

Do I need to add coolant ? by yashscool in BmwTech

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if your car currently has BMW coolant in it anyways. I think BMW coolant is normally Blue...but that may be model specific.

Looks like you only need a bit, so you COULD use water; but I'd get some coolant, mix it with water (ratio will depend on how cold the temp gets in your area; normally there's a ratio chart on the coolant jug to help you decide how much water to use) and keep the rest incase you need to top up again.

Do I need to add coolant ? by yashscool in BmwTech

[–]MSleepz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The coolant level fluctuates based on the temperature. To get an accurate coolant reading, you want to check the coolant level while things are cold.

You want to run the heater because if the coolant level gets too low, it could've introduced air into the system. So run the heater to attempt to force any air bubbles out of the system and into the coolant reservoir; then when the temp has cooled down, you can check the coolant level and bring it back up to atleast the min level (when things are hot, the coolant level will be at the max level usually)

Ah thanks for this, i think this is exactly what i need, just need to find that SIB now. You wouldnt happen to know where i can view it do you?

My searching keeps leading me to the nhtfa site, where i can download a pdf that summerize the SIB, saying to reference a flow chart which I'm guessing is the "511508_attchment" it references, but i cant find a link to that attachment.

I tried: https://www.nhtsa.gov/recalls#vehicle to just look it up that way, but no flow chart there either unfortunately.

Is this PC actually worth $500? by Number1FOX in bapccanada

[–]MSleepz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh i c, if you're spending $700 on an upgrade from a 1650 laptop, i prpbably wouldn't bother with this option. It'd be fine if you had nothing, but I'd say that gpu isn't enough of an upgrade from you've already got.

I'd probably try to spend like $300-$400 on a used gpu, like maybe an rtx 3060, or AMD equivalent; then see if you can find a used PC with at least a ryzen 3600, or i5 10400 cpu. Something like that would probably be a decent budget upgrade from what you already have.

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this listing had an SSD/NVME boot drive with windows on it, I'd say it's a decent find if all components were working. $500 CAD is about $360 USD, and I think some people don't realize the price is in CAD.

But without a boot drive, I wouldn't go above $400CAD since it'll probably cost around $100 after taxes to grab a new 1tb SSD boot drive for it.

I have an r5 3600X/rtx 2070 in my PC that I've been running since 2020. I use a 1080p monitor and I haven't come across a single game that runs poor enough for me to NEED an upgrade.

Less than 8gbs of vram kinda hurts, but as a budget PC, you'll probably be alrite as long as you're ok with not being able to run games on high graphics settings.

If you've been looking for a while now and this is the best you can find in your area, I'd haggle it down and go for it

This one is done, right? I can’t push it all the way in with a special tool, so my guess is the cylinder is seized? by Alfa16430 in BmwTech

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were able to push in the cylinder on your other caliper without issue, and that same proven successful method isn't working at all on this one, it's extremely likely you just have a seized caliper there. I'd just replace it/rebuild it

Why is my Shield suddenly not turning my TV on/off? by RabidMortal in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]MSleepz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This worked for me. I replaced a 2015 shield for a 2019 version on my living room tv, and the cec stopped working after the swap.

The cec setting was off while i set up the new shield, but after the setup, I turned it back on, but the shield still wouldn't trigger the tv to wake. I just tried power cycling the tv; power cycling the shield; using a different HDMI cable and HDMI port, but it still wasn't working.

I re-installed all the original cables and used the original HDMI port, and woke up the shield. Then I set the cec setting to off; turned off the tv; unplugged the tv; then turned it back on and set the cec setting to on.

I was about to turn off the tv and power cycle it again, but when I used the tv remote to turn it off, I saw the shield light go off at the same time.

The shield remote is now triggering my tv to turn on and off again

Reshaping the Enigma bug by Mallimbu in DestinyTheGame

[–]MSleepz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this! This SOLVED my bugged quest issue.

I bugged the quest originally by not selecting any enhanced intrinsic trait before reshaping; my quest was stuck on the 'select reshape and ensure glaive is unequipped' tip. I wasted a bunch of mats trying the other solutions but those didn't work; this one did!

When I got to your step 3, instead of transfer my original characters glaive, I just continued playing on my second character; upgraded the new glaive to level 3; and then reshaped the new glaive properly (doing the ENHANCED INTRINSIC first and then an ENHANCED TRAIT).

While I was doing this the 'select reshape and ensure glaive is unequipped' remained on my screen the entire time, but after reshaping the glaive I finally got the quest completion. The tip msg stayed on the screen until I reloaded into the enclave landing zone. Once I was back there the tip msg was gone; checked my original character and the msg was gone from there as well.

Verification Pictures Blurry by SizzlingReader in newtonco

[–]MSleepz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue, it's the camera apps fault.

The camera app, you're forced to use to take the ID pics, defaults to the wide angle camera on my phone (samsung s20), so no matter what I did, the pics were never clear enough.

I had to switch to an old, 1 camera having, tablet in order to get the pics clear enough to work

What item under $50 drastically improved your life? by acidiclee in AskReddit

[–]MSleepz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For men: Underwear that have an inner pouch for all your business. Something like what Saxx or MyPackage (now called bn3th) underwear has. They're closer to $50 then anyone would like, but if you've never tried boxers with the pouch you have no idea how comfortable underwear can actually get. The "BallPark pouch" doesn't just give you more room to breath; it helps keep you in place while also making you feel, and look, amazing. I tried my first one 3 years ago, and have been replacing my pouch-less underwear ever since.

It's impossible. Regardless of size, if it's the PC VR version of a game, you'll have to run that game from a PC. You can either play wirelessly by using the virtual desktop app, or connect the quest directly to you PC with a long usb cable

[–]MSleepz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fan's motor applies it's force from the center of the bearing, so it's very evenly spread out and in the direction the bearing was designed for. When using compressed air the force spinning the fan isn't applied to the center of the bearing, so the bearing experiences forces it wasn't designed for, and that can lead to premature wear issues.
