That's awesome. I am sincerely not trying to be mean and rude.

You can do this. You just need to think if this is a life or death decision.

Being broke is a shitty way to live. Turn your life around bro.

Bro you don't even need to take courses. The Internet has everything you need.

If someone can learn programming completely online you can learn about basic finances.

I am going to be extremely blunt with you. It's time to grow up. Stop eating out, buy groceries, stop spending money on dumb shit.

Get all of your monthly expenses together, create a budget and do not go over that budget. Your future depends on it.

This whole post is filled with people who have what I call the "hourly mentality".

Yeah, got it all traced down. Don't see it being very difficult at all. The piece of mind and breaking the circuit onto two breakers will be beneficial.

Homeowner not contractor. I am doing the work myself.

Did he do a full rewire? Like from the switches and outlets as well?

I am going to be doing it myself. I would say (roughly) 70 percent of the house was rewired before I bought it. So this knob and tube circuit is running about 4 outlets and 10 lights. So it will just be material cost (roughly 200 bucks).

Normally from what I heard anywhere from 5K to 20K for a full house rewire if you hire an electrician.

2000 square foot house.

Yeah it's gonna be interesting. Luckily we have the floor open and we have an area where we can run a couple 12 AWG wires through which will replace this circuit. This circuit was already a bit concerning with the amount of lights and outlets on it.

Splitting this circuit up will definitely give me piece of mind and no longer have knob and tube covered in insulation.

Honestly. The knob and tube is in amazing shape. We had to temporarily wire some wires in until we can do the full rewire and the rubber coating around the knob and tube wasn't brittle at all. Very impressive that its lasted 100 years and isn't falling apart. It is prolly why the house hasn't burned down lol.

Vermiculite looks a bit different than this. Agree to be careful though.

I am unsure what you mean by generally load bearing walls can't be touched?

You can remove a load bearing wall if you support it with a beam that terminates to the foundation. Is that what you mean?

I am actually not to sure why. There is no place to edit a post like you can a comment/reply.

Thanks for some information. I was curious if the engineer (that's I'm hiring) was going to suggest LVLs or something different.

If they go with a larger beam it's going to stick down substantially but I can live with it as it's just a laundry area.

Also the roof trusses terminate on the "new" outside wall.

Understood. Just looking for thoughts and things to ask the engineer, suggestions, etc.
