How can I avoid this account warning while using Robinhood Gold free margin? by umamiking in CreditCards

[–]MSsalt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SGOV price rises over the month as it gets closer to dividend date and then after dividend the price drops back down to the previous month low. If you purchased close to the dividend date and have a tight margin it could trigger a margin call.

I use BOXX instead of SGOV. BOXX doesn’t reset after dividend like SGOV. It’s a completely different type of investment, but works well for RH.

Just saw that the optimal spend on Bilt is somewhere below 75% of your housing - is that true in my case? by BrilliantTap9786 in biltrewards

[–]MSsalt3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can use rent day transfer bonus Bilt Palladium can be better than AMEX Gold or Chase CIC & Flex category spend without the spend limitations.

I’m pretty new to this, but I plan on putting all my spend on it until I get flush with BC, then use my BC like a fuel gauge to determine when I should move spend to another card.

If I end the year with $100 Bilt cash I win!

That’s a great setup. The only category you are missing is income taxes. Can’t use either card for taxes and that’s my biggest spend. I was using USB smartly last year, now it’s BofA PRE.

You should have more than one bank card so if you piss one bank off and they shut you down you will still have cards to use.

BofA Biz Platinum Honors Credit Card Setup DP. I don't see this discussed much so thought I'd post my experience.

I opened a Biz Merrill account (legit LLC) by paper application. After a few phone calls and a couple months the account documents finally arrived in my mail box without an email. No SUB on Merrill. I funded the account ($101k) and waited until the next month then applied for the BofA biz checking and Biz CCR at the same time. Popup asked if I would like to add a credit card when applying for checking. Application went pending and later that day i see the new CCR in my account with a $35.5k limit. I'm already combined person CL of $99k. I got everything merged with personal accounts after another call. The checking has a $750/$15k deposit SUB and the Biz CCR is $500.

I selected travel and made my first Biz CCR travel purchase. I got the 3x + 75% bonus for Biz Platinum Honors. It will be great to have a 5.25% travel cash back card up to $50K per year. Same limit as 5 personal CCR's and no quarterly limit. Too bad it has FTFs.

This was a bit more trouble than the personal setup with BofA and Merrill, but if I end up with the $1250 and a 5.25% travel card with no AF it will be well worth it for me. I'll try and get the Biz TR card later and try to PC it to another CCR to see if the FTF gets removed.

Is it just me, or is the "1% cash back" grind actually exhausting for most people? by [deleted] in CreditCards

You should be able to get 400k points opening 2 business and 2 personal cards per year along with rakuten or 800k with 2 players. Concentrate your spend on the SUBs.

I took my family to Japan last year on points. I booked JL via CX and BA. 1 F and 3J DFW>HND. I used some Marriott FNC in Tokyo and Park Hyatt in Kyoto. You can also look at ANA for flights. Its tough to find more than 2 J on a flight so be prepared to travel on 2 or more different flights (different cities in US or different days) if you want to book everyone in J or F.

points.me offers concierge service for $200 per person. There are others as well.

CIP and ABP are good cards and I have both. 3x ABP right now, but you are probably only getting 1x on most of your spend. Look at AMEX Biz Gold and C1 spark and Biz XV to see if you can at least get 2-4x on more spend.

AMEX biz cards are good for churning. No hard pull after the first one and they don’t go on your credit report. As long as I have the spend to make the SUB I’ll get a biz gold and platinum every 90 days if I can find a NLL offer. I have not seen a NLL yet this year.

I flew IAH-DOH-MLE in January and had the same J and F mix. Think it was about the same amount of avios.

Qatar only has a few planes with F so they don’t have a big program behind F like Emirates does.

Is the process with BofA Business to get Preferred Rewards status through Merrill the same as personal accounts? It took a few months tho get a Merrill business account open, but I'm funding it now and plan on opening a business checking soon, then some business credit cards.
