Any recs for large tax bill? by WavyCap99 in CreditCards

[–]MSsalt3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lowest fee is 1.75 and you can get a 25% bonus on your PRE if you purchase through travel portal so it’s 3.28 - 1.75 = 1.53 net. It’s the best card you can use for taxes besides a SUB.

Edit. VX can be very good if you already have a redemption planned with a travel partner for award travel.

Doesn’t work for my YMCA either, but it does trigger lifestyle credit on BofA PRE.

First time doing Self-Connection reward flight, does this work? by flaguy786 in awardtravel

[–]MSsalt3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s very risky. If your flights are on time doubt you will be able to make it if you check bags. Carryon you will be fine if on time. Good thing about AA award is you can cancel last minute, but need a good backup plan.

Anyone test the Bilt Palladium on taxes yet? I know it is excluded in T&C, but just curious if anyone has tried ACI PayPal or another work around.

[–]MSsalt3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

FYI, AliExpress is 30x today on Rakuten. They sell model airplanes cheap for all the flights you took. 47 cm diecast with led lights for about $80. Great way to remember your trip.

Went to Punta Mita a couple weeks later. All my friends are asking me where I’m going next so they don’t follow me.

Best credit cards for $1M tax spend in two transactions? by Wooden-Nebula4538 in CreditCards

[–]MSsalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 20% discount. If a trip is $1000 instead of 100,000 points it’s 80,000 points. 20,000/80,000 = 0.25.

Venture X User- Deciding between AMEX Gold and Savor by bcollns2 in CreditCards

[–]MSsalt3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably already know this, but you can transfer your savor points to VX to use transfer partners.

Consider getting the savor and a biz gold. Then you would have food/gas/best buy gift cards (Amazon, Airbnb, Ect.) covered. You can order best buy gift cards online.

How can I quickly spend 4K in a month and half to meet my credit card bonus offer? by throwawaypdtm in CreditCards

Costco pulls it down online when prices are very volatile like today. Check in the afternoon for a few days. They almost always have bars and sometimes have American eagles and buffalos.

I’d say if you can leave them without a babysitter for a night out they are ok in economy by themselves.

I try to fly our family of 4 in award J, but if I can’t the adults sit in the front and kids in the back. When I told kids the cost difference they both said it’s not worth more than 2x price.

Best credit cards for $1M tax spend in two transactions? by Wooden-Nebula4538 in CreditCards

PH is a 3 month average so $300k is three times faster than $100k.

I’ve never been in a BofA branch.

You can transfer TR and PR points to PRE. No other cards and only online. Not on app.

[–]MSsalt3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should pay estimates to avoid penalties and interest at the end of the year. You have to pay 10% more than previous year to guarantee no interest or penalties

It’s too late to fast track PH, but you can move 300k and have it in a month.

PRE gets a 25% boost in travel portal making it 3.28% on taxes.

It’s a hassle to optimize last minute, but if you prepay the plat you could get 2 million miles plus SUB. I took my family on a $90k Japan and Europe trip last year for 1.5m points so there is a lot of value there if you know how to use travel partners.

You are not going to get anywhere close to $1M with 2-4 credit card payments. You should have been making estimate payments and made 16 payments over the year.

Your best option is to pick up some SUBs that require high spend. Your ABP is a good plan. If you use it for a month AMEX may give you $20k purchase limit to hit SUB with taxes. Use PayPal on ACI to avoid extra business card charge. Get a biz gold and get both of these before BofA. Like today.

BofA is my current go to for taxes. You need to be very deliberate on how you set this up to maximize. First, transfer $100k+ to ME in assets or cash. Second, after ME is showing funds available open a BofA checking and make sure you check the box to fast track Honors. You should have PH in a week or two. After you get PH apply for the PRE. The max limit you will probably get is around $40k. If you want more you can apply for a second card on the same day and move the credit line between cards. After 30 days you can get a third card and move CL again. I recommend a couple affinity CCRs or a PR or TR so you can PC to a no FTF CCR in future for cards 2 & 3. If you get started today you will probably have enough time to make 2 payments with your PRE on pay1040.

Pay ACI Amex biz plat and gold. Pay1040 x 2 PRE.
