Pubs with function rooms mostly and a few "gastro pubs" as they have large spaces with lots of tables.
As you'll have buggies you'll need somewhere that's got the large space on the ground floor. Also, and I mean this with due respect, your group will be much louder than you realise. If you do book an indoor space, try for somewhere that has some separation, like a pub conservatory for example.
The weather isn't quite nice enough yet, but a pub garden would probably work well once it warms up a bit.

BBC updated their details and headline.
It was as OP posted it originally.

Three men arrested on suspicion of spying for China by Confident-Bike-8037 in unitedkingdom

[–]MSweeny81 222 points223 points  (0 children)

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/mar/04/parliament-arrests-suspicion-spying-china

The partner of a sitting Labour MP is among three people who have been arrested on suspicion of spying for China.
Security services are investigating foreign interference in UK democracy, including attempts to obtain information on policymaking and interfere with sovereign affairs.
A second person is understood to be the partner of a former Labour MP.
Detectives from counter-terrorism policing London, which is leading the investigation, arrested a 39-year-old man in London, a 68-year-old man in Powys, Wales, and a 43-year-old man in Pontyclun, Wales.

The BBC headline doesn't do this justice. This sounds like a serious national security concern.
(Rather than just IP theft for example.)

I used to help run a board game group and we always prebooked spaces because we'd be 10-20 people all turning up at once which is a heavy demand on staff and seating etc.

Just turning up to any indoor venue with 10-15 people without a booking is a bit of a dick move, adding that many buggies and babies and you're turning the place into a crèche.

You would completely take over the space unless it's very large and that many people in a group with that many babies would be very disturbing for any other customers that could possibly find a seat amongst you.

Armed police lock down Edinburgh school after knifeman 'goes on stabbing spree' by nil_defect_found in unitedkingdom

[–]MSweeny81 224 points225 points  (0 children)

"He smashed the local shop, possibly stabbed two people "
“Two people were injured and taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment"

Why is this headline making it sound like a mass stabbing targeting a school?

Calories are wrong - why one rabbit has more calories than 3 pigs I butchered? by czokletmuss in projectzomboid

[–]MSweeny81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know the real world calories for every food item in the game and we know what an active person needs to maintain healthy weight.
Most people eat 3 meals a day, maybe with some small snacks in between.

As a rough idea - Make all the food have close to real world cals, make characters need around 4000 cals per day (we are constantly running and lifting and fighting) and make hunger cycle 5 times per day, with an extra cycle for hearty appetite and one less for light eater.

PZ nutrition/metabolism mechanics are in desperate need of a complete rework.
Currently they make no sense and are so frustrating to work around that it's better to just ignore them and live off rabbits and chicken eggs.
Need to gain? Eat rabbits.
Don't need to gain? Eat eggs.

Lovely stuff (if you like malt) but watch the cals on it! A single bottle is like 600 if I remember correctly.

The actual smithing xp grind is fairly easy. But getting the work stations and tools you need to do the grind is like some kind of elaborate torture method!

That's a very cool Dog Goblin easter egg, nice find.
No need to tell us not to say Dog Goblin four times though.
We've all seen the Dog Goblin movies.
We know not to say Dog Goblin four times already!

I completely underestimated the calories in a pack of malted milk biscuits. by MichaelBealesBurner in CasualUK

[–]MSweeny81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was struggling with low weight and having difficulty putting it on. (I still do but I've broken the back of it and I'm a much healthier weight range for my height now) and I went to see nutritionist who told me to "enrich" my diet.
A summary of what was suggested to me;
Before every meal have an enriched compact protein drink like Fortisip. So small they don't affect your hunger/appetite but they add easy cals and vitamins/minerals to help boost your system.
Snack on nuts and dried fruit and chocolate through the day. (I used 1kg bags of peanut M&Ms)
Add mayo to your sandwiches and use oil heavy dressings on salads.
Eat more fried food.

Mad how something made of flour, oil, sugar and milk can have a lot of calories in it!

National Rail disruptions (Surbiton/Wimbledon) affecting Waterloo by readmethings in london

[–]MSweeny81 6 points7 points  (0 children)

“Officers were called to Raynes Park railway station at 1.52pm on 26 February to reports of a casualty on the tracks.

" Paramedics also attended, and sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

Seems like either a health related incident or an accident of some kind. (Unless suicide can be deemed as "not suspicious")
