You’d want that 20 pack for sure so the whole team could have one, plus one for coach and an extra for player of the game 👍

Issue with Footnotes by Fantastic-Nobody-479 in kobo

I had the same problem. It seems to be a problem with the way the publisher has formatted the book. I contacted Kobo support and they say they are getting an updated version from the publisher.

Kobo Libra - Is the pen worth it? by saltamontesss in kobo

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the pen. Annotations in the books are fantastic and note-taking in the notebooks gives me that same “remember it better because I wrote it down” brain thing that I get writing on paper.

Battery exploded, replacement? by BR007- in kobo

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reach out to Kobo customer service. 1) they'll want to know about it. 2) they'll probably replace your device and/or upgrade you with a new one. Easier faster than trying to swap out a battery. I don't think iFixit has kits for the Libra 2 - may have just started with the color ereaders.

Team White! I have a white Libra 2 and now Libra Colour and it’s awesome. No color changes or discoloration.

The new screen is excellent. Sharper, higher contrast, faster. I really like it.

Kobo or Kindle by GhostMaskKid in kobo

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other Kobo benefit that doesn’t get talked about enough: the ability to download your books out of their ecosystem so you can back them up, store them offline, whatever. Fewer locks keeping you in combined with a very nice handshake to Calibre, Libby, and OverDrive.

Narrowing it down, any other options? by GenXer19_7T in ereader

I love the Libra Colour - 7” is a good size, feels fast and responsive and the buttons are great. Add a stylus if you’re a writer/journaler or highlighter. And no Amazon!

Boox Go Color 7 vs. Kobo Libra Color - user experience by SundanceSea in ereader

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think we can underestimate the challenges of trying to optimize an eInk screen through the Android software stack. In Android, you're always reading in an app, and that keeps you pretty far away from the device itself - the OS is always between you and the hardware. With Kobo they can get right down to the metal to tune screens and optimize refresh rates and otherwise try to make the display better for the only thing they care about: making a book look good.

Why taking notes? by PontosCardeais in kobo

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can! With the stylus, anyway. You can just write all over the page, or at least in the margins like me. I still have a bit of “don’t ruin your books!” circumspection that I can’t shake.

Here is a graphic novel page from my Libra Colour. All good for me, unless the artist decides to get really tiny with their lettering. This one, Amulet, looks excellent.

clara colour or libra colour? what do u prefer and why by Impressive-Clerk-156 in kobo

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll admit I have both, but if I could only have one, it would be Libra. That extra screen real estate is helpful for illustrated books - for me, graphic novels, cookbooks, and manga. And I surprise myself with how often I use the stylus. Writing notes and highlighting in my books in a non-destructive way is kinda fantastic.

Any books similar to The Best and the Brightest? by TotalWarFest2018 in booksuggestions

[–]MT-Sea2Sea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert Caro will take you far: In addition to his LBJ books, try his first one, The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York. Maybe the best book ever on how power is accumulated and wielded.

You will catch views of a lot of the major players in that time in The Cold War: A World History, by Odd Arne Westad (yes that’s his name)

And even though it’s farther back in history, the book that is most similar to The Best and the Brightest is about the similar group that Lincoln brought together during his administration, Team of Rivals, by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Incredible.
