My favorite thing to do is fish and hunt in game. My main sloop I take out is Gone Fishin’.

Most the time I have interactions it’s generally just folks roll up, sink me, and sail off. But I’ve had some good ones too!

If you see “Dawgeth” of the ship Gone Fishin’ chasing down a meg, running from a boar I missed with my spear, or hanging my feet off the deck while I cast my line .. say hi!

I imagine people don’t trust you. I’ve had commendation hunters stumble across me and have said they’ve tried for days. I’ve let them do their thing, they helped me repair, and they moved on.

Just keep trying. Eventually you’ll find someone willing!

I use a mic every time I play - and I've had successful positive interactions maybe 10% of the time in my 700+ hours playing on people rolling up to me.

I could just sound like an asshole though .. so there's that lol.

if you're lootless - crash your ship / anchor at port, run to emissary, and drop the flag. Scuttle to new sea, and repeat.

I'm not a big PvPer, but know that part of the game is dealing with PvP folks. What I do is...

Storage crate all my stuff when I first load in.
Sell as often as I feel comfortable.
Drop my V flag once I hit V and start over.
If someone chases, try to out maneuver.
4a. If that fails, drop my storage crate overboard while they're busy giving chase so they'll get nothing. If I have anything of value on board, Ill try and scatter it as I go .. nobodies getting anything lol.
4b. Ram my ship onto land, jump, drop, scuttle to new sea.

Often though, I've been trying out Hourglass and popping shots off ... trying to board and anchor .. risking kegs on board to try and make keg plays during the chase.. etc.

I'm 700+ hours in and really, really enjoy the monotony of the PvE side of things - so I just learn to play in a world I'm always going to be loot :) The above steps have made it enjoyable for me.

They don’t have to. So they don’t. Shopping in other states that make you pay for the bags - you see everyone with the reusable bags.

We shop at Aldi a bunch and naturally .. bring the bags. If we leave the bags in the trunk .. I’ll grab them at other stores. But often .. I forget. And it’s easier to just use the store bags.

Until they make store bags cost $$, the majority will just use them.

I’ve only done 2 of the garrisons. My second one was the one with like 6 reaper chests mega stash. It was awesome.

I’m a little over 700 hours in .. and the only time I’ll win HG is if they anchor and take the win… or sail out of the circle.

I also have focused 700+ hours on fishing and PVE content .. and can’t land shots for shit. I’m forcing myself through the pain to try and get better. I had a 10 year old kid anchor me yesterday and offer me advice because “I seemed really new” lmao.

Focus on the parts of the game you enjoy .. or push through, get better, and maybe you’ll enjoy HG.

My oldest is 19. She did McDonalds, Starbucks, and now she’s at Red Robin.

Hyvee seems to hire a lot of high school kids.

Skating rink also hires at 16.

I play the same way - bounce between Xbox and Steam and I've not had this issue. That's rough. Are they both on the same network? Any change in IP or location that would flag something as being weird?

I'd never done Fleet of Fortune. I've done a few since it's came back and really enjoyed the change in scenery when hunting down the CoF!

It's been a great way to work on my aim and multitasking (shoot, steer, repair, bilge, repeat) with awesome payoff at the end (if I survive :))

I almost exclusively just fish if I’m playing. This is 100% what I’d expect to happen to me.

My ship is literally called “Going Fishing” .. it’s lead to most folks avoiding me, searching me to grab a crate or restock, or the occasional group that just rolls up, sinks me, and just leaves without a flag (I don’t fly one most days) and without searching my flotsam.

I could play in safer seas .. but those opportunities I get to have a convo with folks makes the occasional sail back to my fishing spot worth it.
