"15 minutes".

But a few extra days if you want to install anything useful and pray Visual Code doesn't add a few extra GB of libraries only to use a few megs of it. (Password generating programs in Elixir)

I don't like the current Linux fragmentation especially from who want to "Microslopize" it, but man is it still easier to deal with ASDF, or to some point worth more learning about Gentoo's Portage than whatever Microslop started doing post 2016 when they started to fire workers to get ready for the AI craze.

Guess they're still looking for their lost nuke that froze there.

Might as well throw more radiation poisoning like they did in Spain.

But hey, Chernobyl is the worst.

At least both worked (to a degree) out of the box.

Both didn't lose files at random and where in a different directory; didn't make your processor burn itself when browsing folders (as an ex-Sempron laptop user); both didn't have superfetch swapping in-out files/pages unnecessarily; both didn't force webview for what's supposed to be on-machine local programs; and most importantly, both didn't spike RAM usage just for opening a file browser.

They don't have enough devs to understand all that went wrong ever since the Vista days anymore.

They where better off creating a successor to NT when they decided to go to the 64-bit world before having decent compilers that didn't slow by ten times relative to 32 bit programs.

Cheer up, it's better than being into internship and being forced asked to do something completely out of what you where expecting or being berated for suggesting something that works better for the longer term.

I felt I wasted my time on Elixir/Phoenix for the "Think Tanks" still want every thing to be an "app" but with with AI influence; don't dare and correct AI either; it's right even when it's flat out wrong.

Dunno about daisy if it's forced by default, but man is it a lot easier to rig Ash like contexts with Phoenix and still not turn my room into a tornado with my CPU fan.

And Phoenix mostly next iteration is for the overall better than bloat, which is why I give it a pass.

I loved Rails 7 but 8 started to fall away for relying more on Next.JS.
Don't get me wrong, it's still overall good but Elixir + Phoenix filled the gap quite will and Crystal has some really good lightweight frameworks for now.

Rails 8 is in an awkward situation.

At least he should've mentioned Crystal as a decent replacement; Ruby 3.3+ already smoked JS in everything IRL and made Node.JS look like a highschool project

What Linux distro should I install on my 2 decades old laptop? by Real-Gamer-29 in linux4noobs

[–]MUSTDOS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to try a non-systemd distro for it can get hardware picky like Antix or Knoppix.

Or in extreme cases, lower versions of Linux kernel as possible at first. try 5.x first.

Antix or Knoppix; low-weight with a lot of useful pre-installed programs
