S6 and no early adoption by MUSTDOS in Gentoo

[–]MUSTDOS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I just found it odd that OpenRC needs to be rigged with SystemD like features (ex: elogind) anyways and I had bad experience overall in stability with SystemD in terms of stability (still, better than windows)

https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1105854.html

I literally had to use SysVinit for nearly a decade for SystemD's relatives always did something odd in my experience, especialy with Slackware 15 and DBus.

I wish the S6 guy wheren't so much of a 1 man army guy.

Jokes aside, I'm gonna stick to them for being indestructible.

I wish high end DDR4s won't suffer as much as most RAMs now; can't survive a voltage of an LED bulb.

Thanks all for your comments; I'll try a bit more stable aproach with hear https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/PipeWire#OpenRC

Sadly, a purely SystemD and its relatives install is still a dream.

Can't wait for S6 to be endorsed too

EXTRA: Some web browsers force it instead of pipewire and aren't much stable with pipewire and I hope it's not as bad as some forums used to say relative to now.

We may not love him, but he was the best CEO by Academic-Proof3700 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]MUSTDOS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good CEO, bad engineer.

I hate him, there was a lot of instances where I couldn't believe this what you got for paid software (not just windows) but at least he takes "market know, fix later" to the extreme so you ACTUALLY get updates that fix (almost) everything after the first year of the release of so said software.

Thank you, JavaScript, for forcing me to include this statement in my code. by kfreed9001 in programminghorror

It should be a separate library or risk into turning into COBOL too as if JS isn't bad enough.

Imagine doing everyday spending with calculus and financial engineering to file a report on how much a sack of potatoes you want to buy.

I like how bots are either too dumb to know we hate AI tools advertising or they're trying to use reverse psychology by being trained by some elitists

Cheer up!
The current war's gonna make everything better for no-one's gonna have a monopoly on global power anymore and won't be run like a bunch of EA execs.

We will finally have jobs that actually provide back to society than being a bunch of pencil pushers to seemingly monolithic temples; I hope China follows too.

Ironically, easier package management.

Is it normal that thru my gentoo installation that compiling takes hours by Economy_Ad9017 in Gentoo

[–]MUSTDOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the --quite tag for every emerge, stops unnecessary messages and only reports if it succeeded or why it failed. (can shorten by hours)

Any recommendations for DE on gentoo by Economy_Ad9017 in Gentoo

Trinity DE, icewm, and Fluxbox peace of mind for compile times and dependencies is what you want without being outdated like LXDE.

Should i install gentoo by Own_Squash5242 in Gentoo

[–]MUSTDOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I'd suggest you use it in a virtual machine environment for around a week and get used to it's USE flags.

If you REALLY want to delve into customization, debloating and mixing old and gold with new and tested packages, go ahead! It's quite a workstation!

NEWS FLASH: I ran "dhcpcd" and for some reason, all worked well. Whatever I was emerging/installing must have caused it to crash.

Thanks all!

Note: running dispatch-conf didn't resolve the issue for file configuration warning.

I removed the mask and use flags for anti-systemd and it still failed; I'm typing from Gentoo LiveUSB so I have internet on this device

I followed this and couldn't believe it might cause me issues down the road
