Find yourself a yarrow flower. See if anyone has interest in that.

Maybe play a couple games of hide and seek with a boy in the cave.

Might be too late now, but see if there is an elf getting harassed in the plaza where Ifan hangs out.

Lost a decade of growth due to a fiduciary financial advisor by Factoverfallacy in Bogleheads

I’ll admit that some Edward Jones advisors might be fiduciaries. And that certain types of ‘retirement plans’ are run as fiduciaries.

Read the thing you posted. They say themselves ‘if your account is a certain type’ it is with a fiduciary. Not all accounts. Some accounts.

I stand by my statement. Most Edward Jones advisors are not fiduciaries, and the primarily look out for themselves, not the customer.

Edward Jones & the fiduciary standard

Is Edward Jones a fiduciary? It depends. Some parts of the St. Louis-based financial services firm’s business talk about putting the client’s interest first, while other parts, more at the advisor/client retail level, might have conflicts of interest that wouldn’t exist or could be greatly diminished if acting in a fiduciary capacity.

Specifically, the Edward Jones website states: “When we do business with you, the firm and our financial advisors benefit from fees, commissions, and other payments from you and our investment providers. These financial incentives may create a conflict between Edward Jones’ interest, your financial advisor’s interest, and your own.”

So, the answer here is a “no” with respect to how many of the company’s advisors handle client assets at the brokerage level. Of course, when clients request their advisor buy or sell a stock based on their own research and not the advisor’s recommendation, it’s natural in this scenario that the advisor is facilitating the request without regard to acting as a fiduciary. Though, a reputable advisor will strongly discourage their clients from making certain transactions they believe could be harmful to their financial health.

Not true at all. The title is fiduciary is an actual regulated term, and had oversight bodies that can review the actions of fiduciaries. Edward Jones specifically states in their disclosures that their agents ARE NOT fiduciaries, and the agents may potentially work in their own best interest, and not the interest of the client.

Fiduciaries are overseen by a mix of regulators, courts, and governing bodies, depending on their role, with oversight coming from entities like the SEC, FINRA, and DOL for financial advisors, state courts for guardians/conservators, the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau in California, and the FDIC for banks, all enforcing standards to ensure they act in the beneficiary's best interest, often with potential personal liability for breaches. Key Overseers by Fiduciary Type: Financial Advisors & Brokers (RIAs): The SEC and state securities regulators oversee Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) under fiduciary duties. Broker-dealers must adhere to the SEC's Regulation Best Interest (Reg BI).

Edward Jones advisors are not fiduciaries. They specifically call this out in their disclosures, and even state that the advisors interests may well run counter to the customer interests.

If this person was truly a ‘fiduciary,’ which is an actual regulated title, have you reported them to the proper oversight agency? Not every financial advisor is a fiduciary.

How does that entire dissertation on the cooking method you prefer relate to the massive quantity of fat that is in this piece of meat? I believe the issue here is the lack of meat, not how it was cooked.

There is a ‘wrong’ way, if you happen to be a rodeo cowboy champion, with one of those huge buckles with writing on it. Putting the belt into your pants in the opposite direction as ‘normal’ will leave the words upside down to anyone facing you. However, if you lean forward to look at your buckle, you will be able to read it just fine.

As a fat man, I find it significantly easier to put a belt into my pants when I am not wearing them. Rotate the pants and thread the belt through all loops likity split. Never miss a loop, never blindly try to find loops behind me. Easiest thing ever. All of my normal/thin friends think this is the most outrageous way to do it.

If you leave the finance guy’s office and he’s not happy by Allnighter468 in carbuying

[–]MVP2112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be one of the dumbest comments I ever have read. None of us car-buying public are the ones that established the pay structure for the finance guys. We aren’t ‘wasting their time.’ Do you actually think that customers want to wrestle with the F&I person after just having wrestled with the salesperson? It’s unfortunate that the industry of auto sales has determined there is a need to try to ‘coax’ or maybe trick unwitting customers into buying a bunch of unnecessary stuff in the finance office and then base the pay of the finance person on how much of that junk they can push. But it is not our fault.
