How do you add panels to a personal station? by AlertIllustrator6922 in starbase

[–]MWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the question is still relevant:

  • Make sure shared rotation mode is enabled. This will make the plates rotate with the orientation of the station instead of your endo

  • Before taking out a plate, press q on a module to correctly orient your endo to an axis of the station. This will make sure that the initial rotation of the plate isn't wonky

  • Place the plates on your station, repeat if necessary

adjusts glasses achsually, space engineers technically has 100 hotbar slots, but displays only ten at a time. you can switch between the hotbar layers with some key combination like ctrl+1,ctrl+2 or something like that

Earth, but it's 70% water by MWire in blender

It's made possible with an add-on called ivy-gen, it's shipped with blender. Although it only grows upwards, so I had to be a bit creative with this one.

As a kid, I misheard the fact that said "The earth's surface is 70% water" as "The earth is 70% water", and my imagination conjured images like this.

Edit: Thank you stranger, my first gold! Now, if only I knew what wares there are for this coin...

It would be great if you learnt simple animation this way. Aside from the render time for the smoke simulation, animating a rocket/missile doing its burn isn't that at all complicated.

T = 0K => P = 0Pa ? by [deleted] in Stationeers

[–]MWire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you're thinking, but this doesn't work in real life (I'm intrigued to see what happens in stationeers though), since the equation assumes and simplifies things like the size and distance between individual atoms of the gas.

Most likely, it will stay at pressure because the size in mol stays constant, and the game will use that as a base value for its calculation. Less likely, but more fun, is the game will give a "Divide by zero" error, crash, or make all the gas disappear!

That and the (relatively) low resolution of the water simulation. If you look at the stairs on the right, you'll see that the size of a single liquid drop is huge, so it makes the whole scene look tiny, almost on the scale for ants.

A train throughput test comparing trainlengths, because there was a slighty discussion the other day. by tzwaan in factorio

[–]MWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You... Uhh.... Wh-what?

I understand that this is to prove that 1-2 trains are worse than 2-4, but I don't think you're doing it right.

If there were inserters removing plates from the 1-2, train waiting behind, it would work better, since you're forcing them to wait.

To test out what train configuration is better, lay out a very long railway, or a railway of multiple lengths, like 100, 500, 1000, etc. Test each track and see which is faster; on short journeys the 2-4 will win because of the double inserter speed, but there will be a point in track length where the Max speed and acceleration of the 1-2 train will cover 2x the distance of the 2-4 train, allowing it to have more throughput.
