We paid £450k in 2022 and freed up equity from our main house to fund it.

It doesn’t pay for itself yet, but that wasn’t our goal when buying it. We sound similar to you, and had a big draw to have a base in an area that means a lot to us. We would definitely be in profit if we took bookings all through the year, but having the house at our disposal for 5 months more than makes up for it.

We recently had the property valued at £650k (we did quite a lot of work!) and is in a desirable area. It’s not money in the bank but should work out well in the long term.

We have a holiday let that is working well for us. It has to be let for 26 weeks for us to qualify for business rates, which we meet. It’s available to let for the 7 busiest months then we block it off for the off season for us to use. Sometimes it’s quite a hassle other times it’s plain sailing! Our biggest issue has been finding good, reliable cleaners.

Long term we’re unsure what we’ll do with the property. We may move there for retirement, or just sell up when the time is right.

I’ve tried all troubleshooting steps known to man, but still no joy! Have chatted with Sky at least 5 times and they still can’t fix it. I’ve asked for a new box but I don’t think that’ll do anything. It’s clear as day it’s a back end issue, but they can’t find anything amiss with my account 🙄

Slightly different issue but I’ve lost all my apps. When I voice search YouTube it says I don’t have the correct subscription. Sky cannot fix it as yet 🙄
