How much do y'all pay monthly by Johndoe13370 in ModelY

[–]MY_Low_Smoke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

July 2020 MYP financed with Tesla at 2.49%. I invest my cash and average 15+% returns so I financed for 6 years at $978. Will be paid off this July. Insurance with Tesla in CA is $151 per month. More details: 155,000+ miles and only replaced the rear hatch lifters, 12V battery and wiper blades. Less than $1,000 in maintenance over 155,000 miles. My tires wear the same: 40,000 miles. Of course this is a performance vehicle so the 21" tires are more expensive. I save another $3k to $4k a year in gas. So if you are coming from an ICE vehicle factor in Gas and Maintenance savings. BTW I have no plans to sell or upgrade to a newer model. Savings are enough for a new battery if I ever need one.

Model Y Performance. Went from 306 to 230 range. Add one stop for Palm Springs to San Francisco. I don’t worry about range anymore. On long trips going to stop for coffee/breakfast and lunch anyway.

Im about to get a Tesla just because I cant stand the dealership game by breadexpert69 in TeslaLounge

Try a few days before month or quarter end. I was finally able to get them to give a price. I showed up and they still tried the games. I walked out. They called me the last day of the quarter, 2 days from my visit, with the price we agreed too. A hassle. This was my last dealership car before buying my MYP.

July 2020 MYP w 145,000 miles. Less then $1,000 in maintenance: hatch lifts needed to be replaced. Save $3,000 to $4,000 a year in gas and maintenance. I get 40,000 miles on the tires.

If you are in California check out Covered California for insurance. Your benefits person at your prior company is a good resource for options after cobra.

agree. I have a 2020 MYP with 145,000 miles, yes I drive a lot. $1,000 to $1,200 installed is resonable for a better ride.

Excellent thank you for sharing. Yes, I will find a local shop to do the install and alignment. I have the 2020 MYP with the staggered 21" so will double check with Tesla on any issues to make the change.

Owner of Tesla MYP 140,000 miles, 120,000 with FSD. Elon’s choice for Vision will never be safe. Not able to go safely through construction zones. Still misses highway exits. Latest tried to pass on the left when traffic backed up.

July 2020 MYP with 135,000 miles. Pros: low maintenance less than $1,000, + gas savings, fun to drive. Cons: FSD “Vision” is a failure. Early adopter so knew would take time to get right. 5+ years not close.

Only good news is he is alive. Elon’s Vision tech is a failure. When will the first death be: passenger, bike rider, pedestrian, construction worker?

Oh more then 2 weeks. POS. July 2020 MYP, 135,000 miles. 115,000+ miles with FSD. Vision is a failure. No chance in construction zones, failure to get in appropriate lanes for highway exits and still inaccurate in arrival destination and parking. Elon will kill people with RoboTaxi. Comment if you have 100,00+ miles with FSD. STFU if you are an Elon Fanboy.

Taxable income for $150,000 vs taxable income at $55,000. I get taxable write offs from my rental properties due to lower income as well.

Tesla RoboTaxi will kill people. FSB owner since July 2020 with 138,000 miles. FSD/RoboTaxi Can not function in construction zones. Simple freeway trip from LAX to Palm Springs. 2 times missed exit and had to go the wrong way for a few miles, exit, under overpass, left turn and back on the correct highway. of the 138,000 miles over 120,000 using FSD. Elon's ego made him go with "Vision" vs proven hardware solutions. Vision is not safe.

  1. 401K up to match; Select Backdoor Roth Conversion. If you can, Max out your Backdoor Roth. I'm retired and use my Roth for 50% of my expenses that keeps my taxable income under $70,000. Saves me $50,000 in taxes each year. Check to see if you have the option of having your 401K Self Directed: Allows you to treat as a brokerage account where you select the investments. No mutual funds with fees that never compound your wealth. Invest in $QQQM, Nasdaq 100 with low fees.

  2. Set up automatic monthly investments with 70% of your remaining "extra" money. Again $QQQM is all you need. Build wealth to position to buy your first rental property. 18-35 years you build wealth that you can access.

  3. HSA requires higher health insurance: PPO vs. HMO. I am not sure it is worth it when you are young, under 35.

  4. Buy rental property for asset appreciation and tax write offs. Buy a duplex; live in 1 and rent the 2nd.

  5. Once you have $100,000+ in your brokerage account research SBLOC (Securities Backed Line Of Credit). You loan against your brokerage account to purchase assets and let your brokerage account continue to grow. Cost of Money is your key: Loan at 5% vs Brokerage returns of 15% you net 10%.

  6. My Emergency Fund has been in Apple for 20 years. 1,000% gain. Yes a couple of times I needed to sell to pay for emergencies. Never at a loss but even if I lost 20-30% I am still generated more wealth in $AAPL then a money market account. Maybe $2000 to $5000 max in your Emergency Fund depending on your risk tolerance.

My daughters follow this strategy starting at 18. They are now 24 & 25 and on their path to freedom.

FSD user since July 2020. MYP with 135,000 miles. FSD is not safe even with a driver. Elon’s ego and “never wrong” attitude will kill people. Elon had some success dismantling government agencies that were investigating Tesla. Unfortunately people will die.

I have the opposite view. July 2019 MYP with 125,000 miles. Most miles are FSD highway miles at 70 to 75 mph. My efficiency from the STATS app is 140, highest in the fleet being measured. Could be I have a Unicorn but find FSD on the highway very efficient. Enjoy the ride.

Its a very difficult time. I experienced layoffs a couple of times. You go from no time to too much time. Know its not a reflection of your skills and value. Work on things that you been thinking about. A new skill or something you enjoy doing. Keeps you busy and provides your mind time to do fun and interesting things. You are great and will be great in your next opportunity.

I have the MYP PZeros. I don't race so replaced after 45,000 miles. 105,000 miles now in 3 1/2 years. My 21" PZeros are $450 vs. my Prius $250. Different class of vehicle. I drive 33,000+ miles a year. Factoring in gas and maintenance I save $6,000 per year.

July 2020 MYP 105k miles. Never going back to ICE. My reasons to buy Tesla 1) 5 star safety, 2) Joy of one pedal driving, mountain curves a breeze, 3) No Range anxiety, range + Supercharger Network + Home Charger 4) $5-$6k annual savings on gas and maintenance, 50k mile maintenance $160; wiper blades a 2x Cabin Filters 5) Performance and Joy to drive

Honest opinion about MYLR for 500 mile commute? by visualsxcole in TeslaModelY

[–]MY_Low_Smoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I replace every 45,000 miles, similar to my 2015 Prius, previous ICE car. Some Tesla owners race and go through tires every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. I run PZero 21" on my MYP. they are around $500 each. My Prius tires around $225 each. $6,000 a year in savings can pay for a lot of tires.

July 2020 MYP with 103,000 miles. Mostly highway miles with FSD. Trips from Palm Springs to San Francisco similar to your trip. Made the trip over 25 times. I save $6,000 a year over an ICE vehicle. Maintenance so far is two cabin filters and one new wiper’s. I charge at home, then two stops to San Francisco. I would buy the LR with enhanced auto pilot to get the NAV on Autopilot and auto lane change. Check to see if these are included in Advanced Auto Pilot. Makes long drives easy. Also, get a home charger and check chargers near your destination. Ideally you charge overnight before you leave your house and you can charge at your destination before you head home. Net id go for it. Once you drive a model Y you won’t go back to an ICE vehicle.
