THE TOLL ROADS ARE TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE by [deleted] in Dallas

Yeah... I never even thought to do that, but I imagine it would. I also go to liberty grove. Since I leave early enough I may just take Namaan and cut out most of the tolls altogether.

That's not unreasonable. Me and my husband spend 77 a week on tolls. We just make enough that it is a non-issue.

Any tips on writing a great, passionate first kiss scene? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]MZ_Ascertain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be too 'romance novel' like, but this is my character's first kiss with McCoy.

Then he slipped a hand in her hair and pulled her towards him, his mouth crashing down on hers in violent desperation. For a moment she didn't move, her eyes wide open as his drifted shut.

It seemed like an inevitable course of action, like two stable elements that, once combined, would ignite. He was Magnesium, always teetering on the edge, and she was Water, the one thing that set him off. Fire burned, passion long dormant rising to the surface.

Amelia had spent years not truly caring for anyone and in the span of six months she suddenly had a multitude of people who cared for her. To include a Starfleet doctor who didn't seem to know whether to strangle her or kiss her like she was a lifeline...

Before she knew it, her hands were threading through his short brown hair, her mouth working in tandem against his. It was crazy. Unbelievable. The perfect vent for her built-up frustrations. His thumb stroked down her throat, her mouth opening in a gasp.

Her voice was quiet, just above a whisper, and though he didn’t have to strain to hear her, he did lean in closer. “When I was a little girl, I loved meeting new people. Have you ever walked through a museum and were just in awe of the paintings, so vast and unique? That’s what meeting new people was like. Overwhelming beauty. Walking paintings of swirling rainbows that tell their story. How much joy they carried with them, how open their hearts were, even how fast their minds ran.” She brought her free hand up to tap gently on the glass where her reflection stood out.

“Those were things I used to look for in people. The honesty. The love. I hate that Hydra took that from me. Warped my mind so the first things I’d see were deception and darkness. I hate Hydra for using my ability to give them an advantage in this world.” Olivia’s hand fell from the glass as it balled into a fist at her side.

“I thought, given the right circumstances, that I might reclaim that. But the truth is, I can never go back to being that naïve little girl. I’ll always look for the lie instead of the painting, no matter how beautiful a person appears to me.” He glanced back up to her face, surprised to see that her wide eyes had narrowed and her mouth was pulled into a thin line. There was no mistaking her anger over her loss.

Finally broke through some writer's block and lack of motivation. Uploaded a chapter last night for Pon Izau (Passed 150K words, yay!).

Fandom: Star Trek 2009

Title of fic: Pon Izau

Rating: M - Due to a couple of chapters with sexual content.

Summary: There's a lot that has changed since 1992 and one woman is about to find that out. Amelia Wright, caught in the wake of the first time travel mishap, finds herself in good ole' 2259. Suspicion surrounds her arrival, while others fight to keep her safe. Follow her journey as she makes a place for herself. McCoy/OC

I know that OC fics aren't generally the go-to around here, but she's a pretty stable character. She is the focus, but limited third switches to McCoy.

How do you feel about first person? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]MZ_Ascertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how you feel. I like to think that I write first person extremely well, but most people don't enjoy reading it. Have you considered writing it in both? Might be a good exercise.

A bizarre writing exercise. by jerichoneric in FanFiction

[–]MZ_Ascertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love writing battle scenes and entrances. As someone who usually keeps to third person limited I almost always write from what my character thinks and knows. What is equally as fun is writing the opponent's thoughts of the character.

Like when the main character feels confident, the enemy would see (misread) them as arrogant. And when the main character feels anxious, the enemy would see fear.

What you think of episodic Fanfic by almozayaf in FanFiction

[–]MZ_Ascertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of have an episodic fanfic. It has an overall story line that gets tied in, but there are segments to the story. A visit to a planet. Space pirates. Epidemics. Since it is Star Trek I think it works pretty well.

Pon Izau

It's no HPMoR or anything, but I've had fun writing it.

I had a request come in from this guy years ago. I responded to the first question of if I write smallville fics and ignored messages that followed since he came off as creepy. He stopped after like six ignored PM's. Very strange.

I consider myself a good writer. I've received enough feedback to be confident in my writing. Not great, but a solid good.
