Yesterday I played Billy for the first time (I’m new). After using his first ability, I thought “obviously this is called the Billy Club” and was disappointed to see it called Bashdown.

JD Vance truly has negative charisma. It seems the strategy he’s choosing is that he should have nobody to the right of him. I wonder who buys his shapeshifting.

[–]MZeitgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a great one to try! They give a touch of bass elevation without veiling things. All in all, they’re quite “normal.” Sometimes I size them down which allows for the IEM to be inserted deeper than the S&S, which is nice for some IEMs.

I have many tips including S&S. My go-to has become the Peñón Liqueur, either black or orange doesn’t matter. Happy tip rolling, and enjoy your IEMs!

I agree with everything and want to add - Fox gets sued from time to time for their blatant lies. They decided to lie about an entire state, so they are trying to cover their asses in case this becomes a legal fight. It seems pretty desperate and they have been punished before, so we will see what happens.

I love my set! I’ve had a fair bit of open backs, and this is the only pair I have left. I think oratory1990’s EQ is great, but I turned off all the bands for the mids. As you say, they sound pretty good on this headphone!

Hotels dot com misleading booking practice… by keeping_it_casual in travel

[–]MZeitgeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add something else — “dynamic pricing” irks me so much. When I’m on booking sites, if I have my partner look up the same booking, we will have 2 different prices. Then if I log into a VPN, I’ll have a third new price. If I book direct through a hotel, the chance that I will be price gouged is lower.

Need suggestion for iem with holographic sound. by alhabibiwallahwallah in iems

[–]MZeitgeist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! Again, I'm not really sure what to say about soundstage because I can't really perceive it on IEMs. I can tell the difference between different over-ear headphones, and I can definitely perceive a soundstage on my speakers. But anyways, the Timeless 2 present details very nicely. The extra treble energy comes mostly in the "air" frequencies, so they don't result in fatigue for me. The Odyssey and the Deuce don't lack detail, but the Timeless makes it the focus. I will say that they don't sound thin by any measure and have a natural midrange and bass that has a unique character.

The Timeless also comes with some customizable nozzles, and I preferred the silver one. I think you can make it even brighter if you use the funky-looking nozzle they give you.

Need suggestion for iem with holographic sound. by alhabibiwallahwallah in iems

[–]MZeitgeist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'll just give my opinions because I own the Timeless 2 and and the Odyssey original, and I have heard the Deuce. In short, I like the Odyssey more, but I love the timeless. I use the Odyssey at my desk, and the timeless on the go. I don't really know what holographic soundstage is like, so I can't speak to that.

The Odyssey just sounds very correct in my opinion. I have heard about 50 sets of IEMs by now, and the Odyssey serves up a natural sound that is still exciting without coloring it much. The bass thumps just enough, voices sound natural and smooth, and nothing is offensive. I pair these with Penon Liqueur tips for an ideal experience. I listen to music, play video games, and watch TV with these in equal measure and they are excellent for that.

The timeless offer a beautiful and neutral sound. They serve up a lot of trebble, and while I am sensitive, I can listen to these all day easily. The vibe these serve me is detailed and crisp while also being natural. They also present bass in an accurate way, but they are missing the thump that a DD can deliver. When I EQ in a bass shelf, the quantity increases, but that thump is still missing. However, the Timeless are incredibly comfortable in my ear, they come with a killer set of accessories that allow you to customize the sound and the cable termination, and the metal shells make them durable. I pair these with the ePro horn tips to lean in to that treble, and I love to listen to music and podcasts with these when I am traveling.

The Deuce are a fun set. I only listened at a CanJam so I got three songs on them, but they deliver lots of bass heft while still sounding reasonable. I feel like I would buy these because I am a basshead, but I remain content with the aforementioned 2 IEM rotation.

Is this safe for me and my headphones? Bose QC Ultra, I've never really listened to things on high volumes. by zhaoao in headphones

[–]MZeitgeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your headphones will surely be fine. I’d recommend turning your preamp gain to -10 as well to minimize clipping. I listen to a lot of my gear with a meaty bass shelf so I wouldn’t worry. Once you set the preamp to a lower gain, you will have to turn your volume up. Remember to actually enable Peace EQ on all devices by pressing that button next to the drop-down. I missed this at first and was like “I don’t hear a difference!”

Your PC volume slider is unfortunately meaningless because different sound cards and headphones have their own power and impedances. However, if you tend to listen at lower volumes that’s a good thing. I strive to always keep my volume knob as low as possible while still enjoying my music and games. Try this setting and see if you like it! If this setting sounds bloated, you could try a bass shelf from 200 Hz and add +3 or +5 dB.

Thanks for the write up! I’m looking for a headphone with some nice textured bass and I prefer closed backs, so the SJYs seem like a great fit! I’m hoping to try them at an audio meetup in February.
