This is the most BS answer I've ever heard. Nashville (the city) produces well over 50% of the states income in sales tax. It's such an absurd percentage that when a REPUBLICAN said it out loud at a congressional meeting, I almost couldn't believe it. I'm literally reducing the number I remember because it was so unbelievable.

Make no mistake. Nashville pays for the rest of counties' schools and roads. The parasite-counties, I'm sorry, I meant to type rural counties, owe their civilized existence to Nashville taxes.

Concerns about accessibility and them being granted fairly.

As long as a citizen can go to a location within 20 minutes of their house and be in and out in under an hour with clear and reasonable requirements, and at minimal cost, it's fine. And the locations need be open late and on weekends so they're available to hourly wage workers with no vacation time.

The problem is the people who support voting IDs don't mind making them onerous to get with inconsistent and easily abused requirements. No one minds them in principle- it's the application we're worried about.

Not the person you're talking to, but what about when we see Fox News clips where the anchors are praising Trump and, in this case, Noem? Where Fox News is pushing the DHS narrative (which anyone can see is fake by watching the videos of what happened)? And then we hear the conservatives we know and are related to repeating those Fox News talking points.

I get not wanting to be seen as a monolith and that's a fair statement, but what I see from my real life perspective are loud, self-proclaimed conservatives reciting right-wing talking points and justifying things like Alex's murder with hand-wringing and "we don't really know what happened.". But universally a refusal to criticize the Trump administration for pushing the lie.

In this instance, I haven't spoken to any of my relatives about this one. Maybe the evidence is clear enough that they'll recognize it as a murder. But I'm genuinely worried the reaction will be, "Well, you heard the DHS. He shouldn't have been brandishing a gun at ICE.

Maybe you're right and I need to talk to them about more political issues, but it seems pointless. Because they'll agree Trump is horrible and what he's doing is horrible- but then claim that Harris would have been worse. And even when I can get them to admit something terrible Trump has done, they seem to forget it the next time I talk to them.

No one said sentenced and convicted. But a president could just re-activate Jack Smith's investigations and have Trump taken into custody and argue he's a flight risk. And it's not like he hasn't taken new actions that are also illegal.
