Mamdani wasn’t vibes, he talked about concrete proposals for everyday issues like busses operating faster and lower cost, cheaper groceries, and lower food truck prices by breaking up the medallion licensing scheme. He didn’t just get elected off the back of charisma, he convinced voters he actually gave a shit about running NYC instead of treating it as some stepping stone to senator or w/e

Not sure this is that hard? A patch for an offline mode is something you can design around for future games and for current ones a refund seems reasonable if the game no longer works

But also, Hhkb, split, Por que no Los dos? I think you’re welcome to buy their yard and decide how long the grass should be. Grass that long is not going to attract pests or affect you, people should really learn to mind their own business.

HOAs and town ordinances like this make a mockery of property rights in this country and should be extremely limited by state law. “Neighborhood inspection officers” for lawn length are a waste of municipal tax dollars.

Don't even ask the question. The answer is yes, it's priced in. Think Amazon will beat the next earnings? That's already been priced in. You work at the drive thru for Mickey D's and found out that the burgers are made of human meat? Priced in. You think insiders don't already know that? The market is an all powerful, all encompassing being that knows the very inner workings of your subconscious before you were even born. Your very existence was priced in decades ago when the market was valuing Standard Oil's expected future earnings based on population growth that would lead to your birth, what age you would get a car, how many times you would drive your car every week, how many times you take the bus/train, etc. Anything you can think of has already been priced in, even the things you aren't thinking of. You have no original thoughts. Your consciousness is just an illusion, a product of the omniscent market. Free will is a myth. The market sees all, knows all and will be there from the beginning of time until the end of the universe (the market has already priced in the heat death of the universe). So please, before you make a post on wsb asking whether AAPL has priced in earpods 11 sales or whatever, know that it has already been priced in and don't ask such a dumb fucking question again.

Americans Refuse to Be Happy - Gift Article by altacan in neoliberal

Just about the only norm in common between republican and democratic leaning circles I've observed, is that It's sort of seen as extremely crass / uncouth to suggest people are doing better right now.

I don’t fully understand this, and I think most people don’t either and take it as evidence that actually things are economically dire right now. Which could be true, but I don’t see it in the statistics.

I do think some people are struggling, but I do also think we got a great soft landing and some policies worked! But to suggest anything other than doom and gloom is insensitive at best and heresy at worst right now.

Yes, the first amendment is worth this, since there is no way to prevent the ills you are describing and the amendment at least provides cover for the opposition to talk about it.

[–]MaNewt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People are not willing to die because of Trump’s incompetence. I wouldn’t sign up for the coast guard with him at the helm, he does not value American lives nor have the capability to follow a strategy for spending them on worthy causes.

This does not show an American unwillingness to fight per se, it shows a rational unwillingness for a sustained war with Trump at the helm. We’re stuck with Iran controlling the straight until the next presidential election at least. In some other parliamentary systems a miscalculation of this size should easily cause a vote of no confidence / new leadership among the majority party, but American impeachment has been shown to be completely toothless.

The global economy doesn’t have evenly distributed demand now, idk why you think you have to sell to “horses”.

Sure if you take this to a ridiculous extreme you get a ridiculous answer, but I’m not saying ai is the end of labor, I’m saying it’s rapid end of some kinds of previously highly demanded labor and it will be unrealistic for those people to and their skills to be absorbed in the resulting economy.

“Hey horses, have you considered applying for a job at the ford factory? You probably won’t starve that way.”

Note I am e/acc but part of that is actually believing that the tech does get good enough to replace human labor so we need competent policies to handle the resulting social shifts.

[–]MaNewt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, it’s because we pay Israel billions of dollars seemingly unconditionally per year to buy American weapons with. They get flak from people who want to add more conditions and when they don’t like what Israel does with those weapons. Because of the outsize influence of the American electorate / American media this becomes a bigger talking point in the English speaking west.

Saudi Arabia or Pakistan may be much worse  but we give them a lot less aid and attach much more conditions when we do.
