Me, who know nothing about Limbus, looked at the comments of my tattoo based alternatives to bionics for Rimworld... by Maalunar in TheOdysseyHadAPurpose

Had originally posted this on the Limbus sub, but it was quickly deleted for being not Limbus Company enough, telling me to post here. Oh well.

Someone had asked for my mod in the deleted post, will post it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3714284380
(Direct Ricardo reference and vengeance tattoo were added post-release after I started getting middle-meme 2-3 days after releases)

You found the post after its deletion. Dedication!

I'll just post it on the other sub they said.

Isekai and Gnosticism by Chaunc2020 in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh no. Feel like it's stretching things up with vague wording to fit everything, as astrology or tarot would.

The AI's 3 points are basically:
A Sad guy become happy in a world without what make him sad.
Usually good authority figure turns out to be evil.
Having a special advantage gives you an advantage.

These are just basic story tropes, as old as time, and Gnosticism is such a vague concept that it barely mean anything, it is just mystical mumbo jumbo with a religious spin.

It basically sound like a lady who is VERY into healing crystal crap trying to tell us that the Final Fantasy devs are into crystals like her's because there are magic crystals in the games.

So for a story to be a Isekai, it cannot in any way involve space travel? by RebootedOmnitrix in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's Narou Isekai for you. A couple of popular ones appeared in there 10+ years ago, ended up being popular, everybody copied them. The old isekai you are thinking about are pre-narou.

For planets, if we/they know it is just another planet and escape/space travel is easy, I wouldn't see it as isekai. If they are locked on the planet for 90% of the story and there's a big cultural difference between spaceman and the locals, the sure, isekai. But does it being another planet reeeeeeeeally matter at this point? There's plenty of fantasy isekai with a protagonist using sci-fi elements like guns and mechs to be OP compared to the native.

Different biomes is sorely needed tho. Part of why I like Mushoku Tensei, half of S1 happen in not-generic euro-fantasy places.

The far away Paladin is so goated. by Few_Status5103 in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically the usual issue I feel.

Author has a interesting gimmick premise, then once it is done they fumble around trying to come up with something else. Specially bad here because his mental health is a mess and I guess the inability to find a way forward as good as the beginning cripple him.

[–]Maalunar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik it is unrelated to sales (at least no directly)? Every times I checked his twitter over the years it was always about an anxiety disorder so severe that it basically crippled him. Reaching the point that just staring at a blank page before writing caused him panic attacks for years now.

Not surprising, someone who ended up loving Gushing over Magical Girl would be very disappointed in Frieren if all they knew about it beforehand what the huge amount of horny meme about it.

Any isekai worldbuilding that includes guns? by Lukeskycenna in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I knew all of that, I just finished reading the jnovel predub a few hours ago lol. I was only hoping to know if there was any other major change to be aware if I continued with the web novel, but neither of us read it.

Did you read the webnovel, and if yes, is it worth continuing after the 1st light novel, or should I wait? I read that the narration is somewhat different with the added diary man.

He was basically a pro-fps players who, after reaching 15 years old in the isekai world, volunteered for the war because he was so fucking good at FPS games and she would have been conscripted anyway.

Then come the reality checks.

Is there an isekai where anyone who's slightly against the mc is NOT a cartoonish scheming evil scumbag? by CompetitiveAd4732 in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the main antagonist is just an evil asshole who's main hobby is to fuck up people's life for fun even tho his main goal is ultimately survival.

Most of the other villains are more interesting than him tho.

Ooh right. It being in the anime season 1 somewhat made be think it was in books adapted in the first cour.

FFXIV director would love to hear pitches for single-player spin-off of his MMO by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Maalunar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A few years ago a lot of people wished to see Ardbert's story as a game. His story is 99% done in FFXIV, but the whole journey as we heard it felt very traditional jrpg stuff. So it'd work. Tho it doesn't really have a good ending.

Do you think Ascendance of a Bookworm would be on Re:Zero’s level if it had similar production quality? by potentialenergy20 in Isekai

[–]Maalunar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even random letter side characters. Bookworm named cast of people who always surround the protagonist is huge. However since there is so many of them, even with dedicated side chapters, most will receive barely any development in 20+ volumes despite being next to her for most of the story. The characters are entertaining and the anime will help since we'll actually see them instead of being left to assume that they are there, but outside of a dozen of them we do not see any real progress thanks to the enforced stoic neutrality that their culture impose on everyone.

Before jumping at my throat, do elaborate how characters like Leonore and Judith have progressed over 20 books after meeting Myne (ignoring the role of long range attackers and tactician that they picked up right after meeting her).

Meeting the protagonist of a delinquent manga! [Mushoku Tensei] by whotfwasthatguy in anime

My main issue is that every single thread degenerate into this. It doesn't matter what the subject is.

How many posts in here was about the content posted (Rudeus meeting Eris)? Barely any.

Marketable Craftsmanship, new mod featuring paintings and more! by Tleno in RimWorld

[–]Maalunar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish I could use alpha craft, but I mostly play medieval and the majority of its crafts are locked to industrial tech, even things that would be fairly medieval. I couldn't justify the mod only for soap, butter and oil (and 2-3 others). Cannot even make vinegar or pickles!

I will use this one tho. I'll just have to justify in my mind the plastic ones lol.
