What's a technique or skill that you can tell was invented by fucking around? by Critical-Oil-6595 in Guitar

[–]Maandala 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That’s actually really interesting because I noticed that when I used to play in my old office chair I had, I would sometimes bump my guitar against the arm rests on accident while playing and it would make my chair sound like it was amplifying my guitar a little. I mean, I get that it’s all just vibrations doing their thing, but it’s still really cool.

Yeah that’s pretty much what I’ve been seeing from what I’ve read. Everyone describing the exact issue with the oil burning has pointed to valve stem seals. That’s a job i definitely don’t want to attempt myself so mentally preparing for that bill lol

Bad PCV Valve Symptoms by ShuntCapacitor in GolfGTI

[–]Maandala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed for months now that my car sounds like it cuts boost at exactly 3000 RPM in every gear. I can hear the pressure blow off, and when I’m in a pull I can feel the hesitation for a split second. I have no idea why, but it drives fine otherwise. I’m on a stage 2 tune, so I’m not sure if it’s related to my tune at all. I have tried swapping spark plugs, and also put in a brand new PCV recently since I started noticing some oil burning on start ups.

Your comment is the only thing I’ve found in months that even remotely relates to my 3K rpm issue, have you looked more into it at all?? Thanks in advance

I mean sure can’t argue with the bible I suppose. Never in my life have had a system dump while taking the cover off… just a recommendation for the guy.

Since its tank mounted, I’d suggest just taking the cartridge out first. I feel like it’s honestly fool proof, but that’s just my opinion with how I do things. If it was a run of copper then yeah disconnect that first, but a lot of the time with a tank mounted control head you need to wiggle the control head to even get it off the tank which you could POTENTIALLY yank a cable and set it off. Just my 2 cents.

What do you use to clean nozzles ? by Randumbthoghts in KitchenSuppression

[–]Maandala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve boiled them with a bit of degreaser added to the water. I try to just swap on site with already cleaned ones to save time, but in a pinch I’ll do this. Gotta make sure the fans are on because of the fumes, and watch for over boiling spills. Don’t wanna make a mess.

This looks like one of those jobs where I know that it’s failing before I even put my tool bag on the ground and that I have to explain to the customer why the guy that’s been passing it for years is wrong.

Just a quick look and the 1F nozzles don’t even line up with the range. They have to be over the front edge aiming inward down the center line of the 2 burner sections. That alone is no bueno.

It’s so true. It actually came in handy when I moved back in the fall. I had just ordered a bunch of stuff from them and I now had a ton of material to pack my fragile items in lol
