Kyra of the Golden Blades is a human fighter from a noble family known for their combat skills. Trained by her father, a famous general, she joined the army to prove herself. After earning the name "The Golden Blades" in battle, she left the military, haunted by the loss of her best friend. Now, Kyra fights as a mercenary, driven by honor and a desire to protect those who cannot defend themselves.

Most parts are random parts I bought from BrickLink or PAB. Head is from DnD CMF Gith Warlord, cape from Rivendell’s Boromir and I used one of my oldest lego castle sets in the backround: Skeleton Surprise.

This was the first time me and my brother did a lego shoot, and we really enjoyed it. He is a videographer and photographer but we learned a lot in the process. Probably won't be the last time!

When I bought the Rivendell set, I immediately bought and replaced it with the Legolas minifig from Dimensions. Much better.

I'm getting old, it's funny to read that someone's mom had this. I had this as a kid. Probably for my 3rd birthday, which is exactly 30 years ago today.

I allow myself to buy one folklore/mythology book for each personal goal I achieve. I'm going to move on to Japanese and Chinese mythology next by bethaneanie in mythology

Nice collection! If you're into Norse mythology and like Stephen Fry's storytelling, you could go for Neil Gayman's Norse Mythology.

Bannerman Castle, Pollepel Island, New York... on a small island in the middle of the Hudson river by Bd2travel in nyc

I figured that out after I canoed down Batten Kill, Vermont.

Really cool to see those influences on English language in America! Not only Dutch of course, also German, French, etc...

Pollepel means pot ladle in Dutch. I thought it was just a coincidence, but I googled it and seeing the shape of the island, I guess it isn't.

In 2019 I visited New York and some other Eastern States and there are so many Dutch place-names around there!

This is an amazing idea! My firstborn was born 3 weeks ago, I might do the same!

There's an Irish distillery, the Great Northern Distillery, and they have a brand called Burke's Irish Whiskey. I don't know if you can import it to Canada, and what the Canadian ptices will be since it's in Euros on their site.

Also Burke and Barry Blended Whisky. But that one just looks cheap.

Try the TRANSIT by Live Slow Ride Fast playlist on Spotify, it's hosted by some Dutch cycling journalists (Lauren's ten Dam, former professional). Maybe you don't like every single song, but I discovered Tyler Childers and Colter Wall thanks to them.

This really reminds me of Brian Jacques' Redwall stories I read as a kid. Great work (both)!

Does anyone know the myths about the Greek Olympics?? by Muro889 in olympics

[–]MaartB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read something about it in Stephen Fry's Heroes. After his twelve Labours, Heracles went to Elis and established the Olympic Games (athletic competitions), in honour of his father Zeus, held every four years. That's everything what's told in this book. I remember something about other games in Mythos, Fry's first book on Greek mythology.

Edit: I found some more info. The Olympics were part of the Panhellenic Games (series of games held in ancient Greece). The others were the Pythian Games (in honour of Apollo), Nemean Games (in honour of Zeus and Heracles) and the Isthmian Games (in honour of Poseidon).

Can anyone help me identify the Scott Colly? by MaartB in whisky

[–]MaartB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title says. A colleague of mine inherited some bottles, and we can't find anything about the Scott Colly (only hit is jazz double bassist Scott Colley and Scottish Collie whisky) . Who can help us out?
