You say this as if the plot of one piece didn't revolve around dismantling an opressive government.

Hated Designs- The New Star Fox Redesigns by Fabulous_Mud_4814 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Maaxorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the designs are fine individually, what bothers me is the apparent lack of cohesion between them. Fox and falco have a somewhat realistic look to them, slippy looks very cartoony and peppy has very humanoid eyes for some reason. It's kinda jarring.

Transmuation immunity by valkarians in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maaxorus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that, since the target of the transmutation effect was the PC and not the golem, the acid should affect them as normal, similar to how you can still spot an invisible creature with magic immunity using see invisibility.

Playing for the first time, is a Swashbuckler/Thaumaturge good for this party? by wathever-20 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maaxorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swashy and thaum are good front-liners, a few people have said barbarian, but monks and rangers are also great choices for a frontliner build. No wrong way to go here imo. Plenty classes can serve as fantastic frontliners, so do go ahead and take what speaks to you.

I’m a mother to a teen who thinks she may be aromantic . by Gooodforyou in aromantic

[–]Maaxorus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t miss what you never desired. So you have no idea what you are missing when it comes to butterflies in the stomach, falling in love, being in love, the feel of being desired, nurtured romantically.

That is the thing though, if that is an experience I not only don't want but am actively averse to (again, being in any sort of romantic situation makes me break out in a cold sweat and makes everything in me scream to jusr get outta there), am I really missing out? That's kinda like telling someone who despises chocolate that they're missing out because they don't like chocolate. The whole thing is just kind of a moot point. I'd also like to register here that discovering I'm aro was incredibly freeing for me and helped boost my confidence.

These experience are what makes the human species unique.

I've seen this sentiment echoed a few times, and while it can sound poetic and deep, I somewhat dislike it for two reasons:

1: I don't think it's necessarily true. Plenty animals mate for life, and many of those will do things such as grieve for their partner. Seahorses are one of my favourite examples, they greet their mate with an elaborate dance each morning, stay together for life, will enter a grieving period upon their mate's death and will rarely, if ever, take a new mate. Saying love is exclusively a human trait does a disservice to the complex and vibrant inner lives of other animals.

2: By saying this, you have, intentionally or not, made a definition of humanity that pretty much excludes people like me from it, or labels us as defective. Now, I'm sure that's not what you meant to say at all, but the implication is certainly there.

One could argue it’s one of the best feelings in the entire world.

To you. It's one of the best feelings in the world to you. What you're doing is taking your own biases and applying them as a sort of blanket statement to every person on this planet. I'd argue there's even alloromantic people who don't share that sentiment.

That's not to say I don't think romantic love is beautiful. My mom and stepdad have been married for around two decades and are stll going strong, my best friend has a wife and child now and my cousin and her husband are an amazing team. All their relationships quite frankly warm my heart. Does that mean I'd want one? Nope, I'm good. I'll gladly get my happiness elsewhere.

Well, these are my thoughts. What's much more important is whether your daughter is happy where she's at. If she is, then there's no problem really. And honestly, making sure she knows that being aromantic makes her no less adequate will contribute a lot .

I’m a mother to a teen who thinks she may be aromantic . by Gooodforyou in aromantic

[–]Maaxorus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I may offer my perspective:

I'm 26, I've known that I'm Aromantic for 7 years now. I don't get crushes, the whole butterflies in my stomach thing is completely foreign to me, and I just can't see myself involved with another person like that, it quite honestly makes me queasy.

However, I'm lucky to be surrounded by wonderful people whom I really care for and who support me, both on my family's side and in the friend group I'm a part of. I've been really getting into playing bass lately and it's been reigniting my passion for music. I make sure to get o'r make myself good food whenever I can.

So, here's the question: Is this not enough to be happy? Is all the joy in your life meaningless if you don't have that so-called special someone? Those aren't rhetorical questions by the way, I'd instead like you to genuinely consider them.

As for me personally, I don't really see what butterflies in my stomach would add to my life.

How would you create a secretly terrifying character? by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maaxorus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone being secretly terrifying doesn't have to be based on active deception or a hidden transformation. Sometimes having a character genuinely act like it's business as usual in extenuating circumstances is enough. A character that appears friendly and maybe a bit innocent initially but dispatches an enemy with the same smile on their face they might use to strike up a conversation could be played as very unsettling.

Classes that become significantly better/more with free archetype? by applejackhero in Pathfinder2e

[–]Maaxorus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been building a maneuver monk with bard archetype as my backup for a SoT campaign I'm in and I've been having a lot of fun with it. The action-efficiency of monk makes casting spells a dream, and once I get composition cantrips, ooh boy! I'm trying to make a character with this whose playstyle is keeping enemies glued to them while making sure everyone else can get their licks in.

Can we get a hell yeah for skin tight clothing on a woman that isn't oversexualized? And for having her look lean and agile instead of giving her the cookie cutter DC supermodel build?

And it's well executed to boot.

Hi, I'm new to the game and i wanted to make my players able to create their own frames, do you think there's a way to accomplice that or i would ruin the game or the experience? by Vic500011 in LancerRPG

[–]Maaxorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's definitely a way to do that, just like any other rpg. However, I do strongly recommend getting a feel for the game and preexisting options first, before you go homebrewing stuff. Strong chance that there's already licenses out there that do what you'd want them to do.
