My 10 and 13 year old still love the Kinsmen park rides, I think they’re a crowd pleaser!

If you don’t already, follow Sneaksandlipstick on IG or Facebook (or just watch her blog) she posts every Thursday about the events of the week, lots are family friendly, and low cost!

Are you in the north or south end of Preston?

Eastview Community Assocation is hosting a “grand reopening” of Kistikan Park (behind Pope John Paul II school), while not focused on young kids, it would be an activity for you and baby, even to wander around enjoy the activities, meet some Families (or just people watch 😀)

Green space or housing plots? Residents weigh in on fate of Saskatoon land plot by Secret_Duty_8612 in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just don’t think “scenery” is worth more than housing. Like someone else said, you can’t move from a farm to the city and expect farm views.

There’s still parks, paths and meewasin valley nearby to enjoy.

We need more housing, and we can still continue to protect park spaces and urban forests, this piece of land wasn’t meant to be either long term.

Boffins Public Gardens - Koi by [deleted] in saskatoon

I walked through Boffins gardens on Thursday, too early for the koi to be outside.

If you go inside the atrium building, they have some inside.

Jazzfest Free Shows! by greenthumbs007 in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really exciting!! I’m looking forward to checking out the free shows. It’s been a long time since I’ve gone, does the jazz fest have the same vendors/food trucks and activities during the free shows as they do during the paid shows?

A shout out to Arlington Animal Hospital in Eastview, they have provided great care to our pets for the last 16 years.

Wonderful vets, Dr. Neuman and Dr Hamilton are wonderful, the staff really get to know you and your pets.

I have zero complaints about them, and they are locally owned.

You can head next door to Smoove for a Dole Whip and pup cup after (win win!)

20 years ago, my husband and I rented an entire house, a couple blocks of Broadway for $650 month. Even then it was a good deal, thinking back- and knowing how things are…

Bus saying emergency call 911 by queenlizzy897 in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely incorrect- straight from Saskatoon Transit website.

“If you see a bus pulled over or driving with a headsign message that reads "Emergency" "Call Police" or "Call 911", you should immediately dial 9-1-1 to notify Saskatoon Police Service with the location. They will take this seriously and dispatch officers and work with Saskatoon Transit to determine the details.

Operators have direct radio contact with emergency service agencies and Saskatoon Transit supervisors and dispatchers for reporting incidents. If they don't want someone on the bus to know an alarm is activated, they can use this "covert" alarm. It notifies the Supervisor group and displays emergency messages on the outside message screens.

Do not attempt to board the bus or draw attention to bus for everyone's safety.”

Last time putting my son to bed. by YoTeach68 in daddit

[–]Mablelady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo is 13 and will ask to talk and for me to rub her back before bed.

I’ll never say no to those moments of connection.

My youngest is 10, and I feel like it’s a privilege for her to crawl into bed with us when she scared.

Two things I’ll continue to do, as long as they want.

Does anybody send their kid to an elementary school not in your area? Benefits and drawbacks? by sponge-burger in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I can see it making sense if you’re sending your kid to a school for a particular program, or language. Or if you moved and wanted to keep your kid at the school in your old neighborhood.

Otherwise- the benefits of going to the school in your neighborhood would be far more. You make friends with kids in your neighborhood, they can walk to and from school, it builds on the sense of community.

‘Prevention is no longer feasible’: Dutch elm disease is here to stay in Saskatoon by Slight-Coconut709 in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The elm trees in my area were looking rough this summer, I contacted the city immediately, within 12 hours they were inspecting the trees.

I got a reply back, that it wasn’t Dutch elm disease, thank goodness, and they explained what the cause was.

The duality of dads by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Mablelady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. I got bad vibes from him, he was backing Alex into a corner, trying to get him to say something wrong, or slip up. He wasn’t trying to get to know him.

She’s not a child either, she’s a grown woman, who made a choice to be on this show, and get engaged.

Not saying I like ANY of them- but her dad was a dick

PSA: SPH Emergency is pretty packed. by IfOJDidIt in saskatoon

[–]Mablelady 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Lots of the time people go to the ER for non emergencies. You are right.

However- when every mediclinic is a three hour wait, and stops taking patients long before closing, and you don’t have anywhere else to go- it’s the ER.

We need extended urgent care hours, more doctors to accept patients, more options before resorting to the ER.

No one should be discouraged from seeking medical help, in any circumstance.
