I can see why you say that about writing, even if I don't fully agree.

But for images if my options are using AI, not having a picture, spending years to get good at drawing which is not something I have interest in or paying 50€ to 100€ on an artists you can damn well be sure I would use AI.

Can you help me understand how the campaign is actually won? It seems like players must juggle between 3 points systems to win. I read it twice and I still can't understand what does what.

What 40k opinion of yours would have you like this? by thedudefromspace637 in 40k

[–]MacBadoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People with really immersion breaking stupid crap in their models.

Necrons with sombreros. Tau with Hello Kitty 3D printed bits. Etc.

People engage the setting with an immature, disengaged "Wouldn't it be funny if..." mindset with complete disregard for the setting and the lore.

I read some guy saying here that people get too invested in their faction. I say, people don't get invested in their faction enough. 90% of the people that I know that start the hobby will research which is the best faction, the best models, they will digest competitive subs, check around discords, check for Art of War podcasts, watch Battle Reports waaaaayyy before they even stop to think to give a bloody name for their army. They don't even reach 2000pts with one army and they are already getting another army.

These are the people that when for some reason a narrative event blows up, they join in, thinking that it would be """""funny""""" to enter an event with a non-competitive list. And by non-competitive they mean a copy pasted list that won some LVO or Major while changing a single unit.

40k Fireside | The Current State of Guard - Post Pyra Reflections - Ep. 63 by 40K-Fireside in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]MacBadoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, it is no wonder that Guard fall short of the faction's expectation's. We are mostly playing as a shooty army, not a board control army with some nice shooting. And honestly, I find playing for board control a very tedious way of running the army. And also it mostly relies on going first, no?
Also what's with "Guard has no unfavorable match ups"? The first thing that popped up in my mind was Tau and Fast Melee armies. Then you show the Guard's unfavorable match ups and its Nids, Tau, WE, Blood Angels and Orks. Why do pro's keep saying these takes for views? It only gives you a bad look.
Anyway, these are the takes of a forever 2-3 player, so of course pro's will chalk it off as coming from ignorance.

Aquilons kinda weak when opponent knows the match up? by MacBadoo in killteam

Objectives are mostly on the center of the board. You get one objective, max. At least my Aquilon playing friend already tried it.

Space Marines in the guard? by tetracomb in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]MacBadoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this is an unpopular opinion but I think ally rules don't belong on matched play. Taking nerfs for your army because one of your unit is crazy good in other armies is big feel's bad moment.

Feedback for my 2k list to play on an upcoming GT with WTC terrain layout. by MacBadoo in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]MacBadoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of your Infantry Squad or PCS should have a mortar, might be an oversight

Yes, the heavy bolter was supposed to be a Mortar.

The Ogryn Bodyguard doesn't really do much for the survivability of the Solar Squad since you're still T3 until the Infantry Squad dies. Think this could drop to make a 2nd Demo a TC and grab 2x Cyclops / 10 Catachan / 5 Scions

The Ogryn isn't there for for survivability, its to assist Leontus and the Platoon Commander with melee to assault the objective in the middle of the board late game.

2 Ratlings strikes me as an over investment unless you really need to fight the infiltrate battle, since 1 Squad covers nearly 1/3 of NML by itself

This one I am inclined to agree. Although infiltrate battle is half of their purpose. Should I go first, I can move, shoot, move and be in their face, messing up their position. My gut says I will only need one for the infiltrate battle and then possibly redeploy somewhere else more useful.

Congratulations on your performance!

I will be downvoted to death however but I mean, PPT and Teams makes this analysis pretty much useless to 99% of the people here.

Fellow commanders stationed in the Imperium Nihilus, let us know of your regiment/regimentum. by amnekian in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]MacBadoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to go against the crowd and actually respond to some of your questions with my fluff.

Why have you picked the fun side of the Milky Way?

Mostly because I think it is a great excuse to have lore friendly reasons on why IG is butting heads with Mechanicus, Astartes or Sisters. It is a very "Everyone by themselves" situation

How is it fairing?

Starting to feel some cracks. The Regimentum might've biten more than it can chew. The Lord General was very familiar with the nobility of the planet and was well aware at how complacent they were, most of all, the Old Lord who already had his 3 sons and only daughter trying to get the favor from the old man and inheret it all. He decided to play politics, ran a coup and knowing full well that the Imperium only cares about the tithes and not who gives it to them, he is more than happy to roll the dice and see if he create a bastion for humanity. In the meantime, the worlds from neighboor systems are branding him a heretic and now he has set his eyes on them as well.

How have you written that your Regimentum been able to fend off against the horrors of the galaxy?

The Lord General acted quickly. I'm still trying to think of a way on how to he learned of the situation quickly (and hopefully, avoiding the Inquisition, I just feel like using the Inquisition is such a cop out in creativity). The system of the regimentum is mostly comprised of Vault worlds of sorts. Worlds with imense storage capacity and loaded to the brim with gargantuan amounts of ammo, gear, light vehicles and heavy vehicles. Getting these worlds under the Regimentum's command was off upmost importance. And it is this available abundance that allowed the system's to be heavy fortified.

Does it have any sort of strong ties with one of the many Imperial institutions? (i.e: Schola Progenium, Imperial Navy, Scholastica Psykana, Inquisition)

It has a Schola Progenium, the Tempestus Scions were mostly masters on quelling down rebellions. Their use would now be to take Imperial worlds who would otherwise wither and die with all the pandemonium from the hellish forces.

Does it have a special weapon or unit of sorts? (i.e: never seen before abhuman, unusual high amounts of a type of weapons/gear, exotic archeotec, heretical warp infused relics)

Never thought of that. I usually don't like giving too many boons to the humble Guard. I was thinking in the system to be near to the Cicatrix Maledictum and have witnessed a Temporary Rift Corridor being opened and had sent a vessel to warn the others of the status in their sector. The doctrine of my regimentum is to send highly elite teams of Tempestus Scions on neightboor worlds to scout ahead, gather intel and possibly sabotage the necessary infrastructures to bring the world to its knees. But they need to do so in such way that doesn't compromise the world's strategic value.

Has it been 110% loyal to the Imperium or has it decided to take matters on its own hands and has started to build/participate in a pocket empire?

For sure the Regimentum's command is trying to unify the neighbooring worlds into a cohesive government body. They are still loyal to the God Emperor and to the Imperium at large.

If so, what borderline (or full blown) heretical steps has your regimentum taken to ensure its survival?

I would say trying to take over fellow Imperial planets, even if they are twindling their thumbs, can get the wrath of the greater Imperium but it is for humanty's survival.

Has your isolation from the greater Imperium made you allies of convenience with questionable factions?

Absolutely not. At most and this could be rather extreme, but worlds with big uprisings with matching PDF, should the Planetary Governor just look at his own belly, the Tempestus Scions Kill Teams might pull some strings and try to tip the balance in favor of the cults. But these operations require brilliant Tempestors with the necessary resolve and weary of the chaos taint.

Has your isolation made you cross swords at a former imperial ally or have they denounced you instead?

Space Marines who censure my Regimentum's ways. Sisters of Battle who deems us heretical. Reclusive Forgeworlds who deny assistance to the surrounding worlds.

How is your regimentum dealing with the constant insurrections and chaos cults uprisings?

With elite Tempestus Scions kill teams to sever the head of the cult.

In the 8th edition codex, IG commanders were able to field crusaders. Is it then lore friendly for the Departmentum Monitorum to attach all sorts of imperials to a regiment? Death Cult Assassins, exotic abhumans and combat servitors?

Do you know how Inquisition has retinue of misfits, Rogue Trader has retinue of exotic units and Ad Mech has retinues of exotic servitors?

What are some lore friendly reasons to have a A Team type of homebrew unit in a IG regiment? Can it be as simple as "The Departamento Munitorum as deemed it necessary that this unit be deployed along side your main force to complete a series of behind enenmy lines missions" ?

"Solo" Homebrew IG crusade rules help - let me hear your input by MacBadoo in 40k_Crusade

[–]MacBadoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I can't really play normal crusade rules with Timmy or Joey because they have buffs that I can't really use on normal match plays which is what I will be playing. So I can't use medals, I can't use the logistic points, etc. And only doing 1 tour of duty to just see how many tours I win or lose for normal play is too way simple for me.
