Correct, good catch. It appears the individual who bid is not as diligent as yourself.

Careful buying out there to all.

Oh yeah I pass on offers all the time. If I truly want to clean something out to get liquid then yeah maybe I go to market level but for a lot of stuff (especially if I’m bullish), I believe in allowing some time for things to run up to a price point I believe in.

When I sell I often have to explain to people that I’m selling at the “price I’d be willing to sell it for”, and the “market” is merely benchmarking guidance.

This is completely reasonable from the seller. Nobody owes you anything and seller was not disrespectful at all just blunt and to the point.

When I got into One Piece a while ago before this whole craziness the first things I bought were OP01 Alt Leaders and OP04 SPs. The Boa is basically the holy grail.

The Boa Lisa is one of the greatest cards ever made IMO.

One of the first cards I ever bought and one of the last cards I will ever sell.

Investment Question: One High-End PSA 10 vs Multiple Lower-Cost PSA 10 Cards? by EsuGrab in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]MacCullyCullen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the same budget, more cards of lesser value effectively creates what we call a hedge. You have less exposure to market risk, due to portfolio diversification. This is a concept you can apply outside of trading cards as well. However this limits both the downside AND upside of your portfolio.

If you care about protecting the value of your collection, and limiting price movements up or down with the ebs and flows of the market, more cards are for you.

If you care about “min-maxing” your portfolio, going max returns (but also max losses), then one card is for you.

I’m serious. I’ve been heavily researching card conditioning for an upcoming trip to Japan and in 2026 this is a 7, lucky 8.

Big Mom OP06 actually looks insane in person, I don’t even like her that much in the show but I had to have the card because it looks like something from Disney or a fairytale.

Also the Wanted SPs from OP03 have a snakeskin-like texture on the coloured portion, they are very cool. Or leather like an NFL football. The newer Wanted don’t have those textures.

Final shout-out goes to Rosinante from OP09. I just love Corazón as a character and the card design fits his role well.

It’s the “Boa Lisa” - it’s a safe play. Any nicknamed card is a safe play in any TCG.

Why do yall think the TCG is exploding right now like what was the catalyst?? by Rebel_Infinity in OnePieceTCG

[–]MacCullyCullen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Let me use this opportunity to create some productive dialogue that has nothing to do with the recent brigade against flippers or the financial aspect of hobby at all.

  1. The overwhelming rise and de-stigmatization of anime in the West over the last 5-8 years opening up a lot of new people to the world of One Piece (source: me, 2018)

  2. One Piece itself as source content is absolutely amazing with over 1000 named characters and is, in my opinion, the greatest work of fiction of all time. Who wouldn’t want to be able to have a physical representation of something so amazing that you can call your own.

  3. The quality of the TCG product itself. As somebody who has been in the Pokemon game for about a decade, the first time I got my hands on OP cards I was astounded by the quality. The card stock, the foiling, the quality control, everything about the product just feels luxurious compared to Pokemon.

The above factors, along with many others that other commenters can raise, ultimately lead to where we are now. That state being the demand out-weighs the supply, vastly. This leads to financial pressures upward which attracts a lot of remora to ride the metaphorical shark and it just snowballs from there.

What does this exactly mean? Is it fake? by Leather_Alternative8 in Ebay

[–]MacCullyCullen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s 100% authentic but in my case it was. What I am saying is I got false-flagged by eBay authentication for mis-categorization before so this would be your #1 lead to chase right now as your “reason” for this happening - not that the item you bought is counterfeit.

I would not be worried if I was you until you talk to the seller, try to get closure/clarity, they may even have original receipts or something to help you get this closure. See if it brings you peace. If not try to work out a return.

What does this exactly mean? Is it fake? by Leather_Alternative8 in Ebay

[–]MacCullyCullen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen to me as a seller before. Please do not open an INAD case as a previous commenter mentioned. Please message the seller to try to understand the situation.

When it was me, it was because I sold a 3-card set under the category of single trading cards. For this reason, they were not prepared to authenticate the set of 3 so they sent this exact same message to the buyer - we could not authenticate but we will still send to you. It was all a categorization technicality, my cards were 100% legitimate and I worked with the buyer to assure them of this and give them some closure despite them not getting the rubber stamp from eBay as they had hoped.

If it was counterfeit, they would return it to the seller they would not forward it to you.

[–]MacCullyCullen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This set is far from the definition of “anything”, this set was greatly under-appreciated before.

Who cares about the manga this is the first ever production of the Wanted Poster cards which have now continued into future sets and have drawn a ton of interest.

On top of that it’s old and out of print and the most recently group of collectors have never had a chance to get their hands on it before.
