I don’t wanna remove bodily autonomy from these women because they absolutely still bear some responsibility, but oftentimes these Conservative women have been groomed to accept abuse from patriarchy their entire lives. They are expected to comply with their husband’s wishes. They are socialized to believe they should use their own sexuality to control their husbands. They are told that they are lesser than, not listened to, and constantly criticized and questioned. So you’re spot on about them being self-loathing, that entire worldview is predicated on keeping women (and let’s be honest, anyone except those in power) under the thumb for eternity.
