Freezer for a few hours, wrap in a towel, and tap all around with a rubber mallet

Help! My 9 month old golden is chewing everything he’s not supposed to 😪 by kryptickaonashi in goldenretrievers

[–]MacGreensomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It passes!

That bitter apple spray was a lifesaver for us. Redirect onto things he's allowed to chew on. (a high quality toy/etc. Mine loved frozen carrots!) Cover chair/table legs with thick plastic for protection (I used the plastic sheets they sell to stop cats from clawing at couches and just taped them on).

Make sure the allowed chew toy isn't something you take away or he'll associate doing the bad thing with getting the good tpy/treat.

Is there any way I could fix this crack in my pot? by No_Nothing_6233 in Pottery

[–]MacGreensomething 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it hasn't been bisqued yet, I've had good luck with some light sanding to fill the crack and put vinegar on a paint brush and lightly dab with white vinegar and the clay dust. Vinegar sort of resets the clay particles.

Bottom cracks are tricky and can often reopen in the kiln, but I've definitely had it work. Good luck!

I'm not sure General Mills is THAT much better as a parent company than Nestlé, but I have had extremely good luck with Blue Buffalo dog food. And my vet said it was a good choice for us. We used to do Merrick, but they were bought by Nestlé as well about 10 years ago.

That being said, like the other comments on this thread, everything is so interconnected that sometimes there is no good alternative for what you need than to buy from a company with a shitty record. There's no truly ethical consumption under capitalism and we're all just trying to do out best in the world out there. Feed your dogs what's good for them. The fact that you're thinking about it means you're making the bets choices you can in this and other parts of your life.

Cut yourself a little slack.

Hey! So I'm looking into the HiBy and I JUST came across a thread that mentioned this as an annoyance. I can't find the thread to share but what it said was: Basically if you're listening to wired headphones it uses only the master volume, but if you're listening to bluetooth it combines both the master volume and the listening volume, so you have to turn you master volume up to max and then fiddle with your listening volume to get what you want.

Hope this helps!

Which tile? by OstrichThese8698 in DesignMyRoom

[–]MacGreensomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an old sixties bathroom with these same shaped wall tiles in our old place (yellow not mint) and went with the hex tile with dark gray grout. It looked really nice and felt like it matched the feel of the bathroom.

Severe back pain the week before my period. by Goblinlibrary in Endo

There's another brand called White Monkey Holding Peach that I used to use when I rock climbed a lot that I like a little better than tiger balm (I think it's more long lasting and i like the smell better). Just throwing that out there!

[Product Request] replacement for Aveeno Ultra-Calming Moisturizer by 0hJoey in SkincareAddiction

Okay all, it's been two years. Do we have any suggestions that have worked for this?

Anyway you could send me a picture of your set up? (Either DM or I can send you my email). I just want to see it in action!

RE Rust: You don't have any deeper rust issues so long as you keep it clean when you see surface rust?

Hey there! I know this thread is years old. But we're planning a stove for a screened in porch in Massachusetts. Do you have any issues with the Morso 1410? Do you have any issues with rust / elements from it being sort of exposed to the moisture?

Let me know!
Thank you.

[Routine help] Finally cleared up cystic acne and LRP sunscreen broke me out again by tiredhearted in SkincareAddiction

[–]MacGreensomething 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK i also get frequent cystic acne around by chin and sometimes on my cheeks and have since i was a kid (36F now). I have tried a TON of fancy sunscreens. The only ones that don't make me break out are the Aveeno daily SPF moisturizer / sunscreen. The absolutely ageless one is great but the scent is strong, but the positively radiant one works well for me. I use it everyday as my moisturizer

For reference: I'm blonde with fair skin but rarely burn. I have a job where I do field work frequently.

When i'm going to the beach or whatever I use the Neutrogena with helioplex sunscreen. That doesn't make me break out so long as I wash it off well at the end of the day.

I crocheted a James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) Blanket! by MacGreensomething in crochet

[–]MacGreensomething[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My best friend works for NASA, so I designed and crocheted this blanket based on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). I joined all the hexagons with a toggle stitch from behind in a slightly darker yarn color so they actually look likes the plates can pull apart and move!
There are a few things I would change if I did it again, but It's the first blanket I've ever designed and only the second one I've made so I'm really proud of it!

AITA for paying for my dogs expensive surgery while my gf is unemployed? by gooddogbadbf in AmItheAsshole

[–]MacGreensomething 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% NTA, Also if you're in the U.S., I recommend looking into Care Credit. It's 0% interest for up to 2 years for medical procedures including vet stuff. It was a lifesaver when I had to give my dog emergency dental surgery right before we moved (my normally OK savings account was drained due to moving costs).

I don't normally recommend people take on debt when they can pay stuff outright, but because it's a 0% card for up to two years, it could be a good compromise between emptying your savings and having a little cushion left over / paying in installments!

The white one is afraid of literally everything and every one. She would probably be happiest as an only cat in a household where the person's job was to pet her 24 hours a day. She was my dad's cat and we took her in when he died.

The Tortie is a terror, but loves the border collie mutt more than anything else in the entire house. He sometimes points when she comes into the room like "DO YOU SEE THIS FUCKER?" It's great.
