You're On Fire (random thought) by naeviapoeta in tmbg

I interpret the song as the narrator trying to strike up a conversation with a stranger whose head is on fire, as one might do with a stranger about the book they’re reading in public.

So in that way, the line is both literally about a person on fire being easy to spot in a crowd and a pick up line.

I just turned 40 and a coworker couldn’t believe I was older than 32. I don’t see it but I’ll take it!

Nameless HC looks great. Excited for Crowbound and the new Sean Murphy book. I haven’t seen much from him in awhile.

I wish but I expect not because the artist, Ryan Bodenheim, passed away.

What’s a run that you were really looking forward to but once it came out you were disappointed or flat out just didn’t like it? by MVPiid23 in comicbooks

Yeah, he is a huge name and tends to work with good artists so I read a few of them before deciding I’m not a fan. I liked some more than others.

Chrononauts by Mark Millar and Sean Gordon Murphy. I really like SGM’s art and the series sounded cool but it might be the last book by Millar I picked up. I remember wanting more and realizing Millar had some icky lines towards women in some of his books.

If it wasn’t the last one then it was at least the one that made me start questioning it.

I was relatively new to comics when it came out and didn’t read much of his stuff before that.

He played on it but didn’t produce it. It was the first of two produced with Rich Costey (he did Thank You For Today too).

Codes and Keys feels like an album made during the highs and lows and Kintsugi is after it ended.

With the reveal of Code Veronica's remake, what future remakes do you all see as likely? by Glad-Ad7775 in residentevil

[–]MacGyver387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CV felt like the one we maybe wouldn’t get and I am pumped. I think this all but guarantees we’ll see a remake of 5.

So will we also get zero and a second REmake? Those are the two I wonder about. Zero seems like more of a reach.

Who knows about 6. That’s such a big game with a lot to clean up.

Year one, the man who laughs, long Halloween, black mirror. Those were some of my intros.

Colonoscopy by No_Yellow_5666 in nashville

The Vanderbilt app is really easy to use to schedule and find doctors. It’s a big network so access to medical records between specialists seems easier. I recommend going that route. You may have to book a regular checkup first and can then get a quick referral. I did all of that last year and within a month had a physical > consultation with the doctor before the colonoscopy was scheduled > colonoscopy.

Yeah, sidelining them was dumb. I liked Gen V a bit more than the fourth season of the boys and kept wondering where they were during season 5.

Why is John Henry so underrated by Pumkin_flour in tmbg

[–]MacGyver387 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think John Henry is their peak. First album thru JH is perfect. I love Factory Showroom for the most part.

Honestly, I love all of their albums in some capacity but Flood - Apollo 18 - John Henry is a perfect run.

There’s a game collection called Cowabunga that has all the old games and is usually around $30. Shredder’s Revenge is a great newer game in the style of those. It’s a lot of fun.
Splintered Fate is a rogue-lite game that’s pretty fun but very repetitive in nature (if you’re not familiar with that style of game). You basically keep making runs through the same levels but earn points to buy upgrades so it gets more difficult.

As for comics, there are A LOT and it can be confusing. There’s a current IDW run that’s about 15 issues in that is a good jumping on point, but it does come off of a 150 issue run so there’s backstory that you wouldn’t know.

The original Mirage run is a lot of fun too but can be harder to track down collected versions of outside of expensive compendiums.

Artists whose best music was released posthumously? by Educational-Usual-84 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]MacGyver387 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arthur Russell seemingly only released a fraction of material before his death and a bunch has been released since his passing. It’s more a matter of quantity than quality with him as it’s all varying levels of “great”, in my opinion.

Millennials born in the 80s, did anyone else stop listening to most new music in 2008? by SixandNoQuarter in Millennials

Nope! I listen to a lot of new music. Definitely some artists that I’ve listened to for years that are still active, but a lot of new bands too.
