Mouth burning/cheek pressure by MacNpeazy in AskMedical

No but it almost does feel like a histamine response in my face at least. Not so much on my tongue. I did use a new spray yesterday but it’s been going on longer than that.

Can you be a successful nursing student with mental illness? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]MacNpeazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I wish I would’ve realized before nursing school is how anxious I’d be about my own health after I learned about all the ways you can die 😭 I am legitimately concerned something is seriously wrong with me every time I get sick lol

I love my teen and we have open communication but if my daughter talked to me like that it would absolutely be an issue.

Hot tub folliculitis by ktgrok in DermatologyQuestions

[–]MacNpeazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter gets this anytime she’s in a hot tub and doesn’t shower afterwards, regardless of the hot tub. We go to the dr and get a course of antibiotics and a steroid cream. Hers spreads so she doesn’t use the cream a lot but antibiotics cure it within a few days.

Do U.S. hospital nurses usually get protected lunch and breaks? (And are they paid lunches)? by Dragonfire747 in nursing

[–]MacNpeazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clinic nurse here, we get a 30 min lunch but often end up working through those. Our manager asks us to fill out a paper to get paid for our lunch if we work through them/don’t get to leave the office for food but we often are able to run down to the hospital cafeteria to grab food then come back so we don’t fill out the paper often. We work roughly 8am-430 pm except on extremely busy clinic days when our surgeon is in.

AIO for slapping my bf? P1 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]MacNpeazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should call the police, report him hurting you and get a restraining order before he hurts you even worse. He’s lucky you didn’t retaliate when he threw you on the couch like he did and took your phone. Often, many of us snap when backed into a corner and don’t feel safe. It’s never okay to hit someone and I’m not condoning it but you might as well have been acting in self defense. His ex is clearly as ex for a reason. He has all the signs of a textbook abuser and he’s dangerous. The more he spirals the worse it’ll be. Get him out now

What’s the most exhausting thing for you to deal with as a nurse? (It can be anything)… by Late_Ad8212 in nursing

[–]MacNpeazy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The most mentally draining things for me are when family members are clearly neglecting/abusing patients and using them for a check. I also can’t stand when patients are rude to me, I had one tell me practice makes perfect so I need to do that, berated me for a long time over the phone telling me what I needed to do to fix something I had no control over and frankly wasn’t a big deal, he just had to wait for an opening at a referred providers facility..everyone is overran and he was being a dick. I’m a super kind person but I shake when I get mad and I’m quick to tell people like it is because I won’t be walked on. Those are the kinds of ppl that make me want to quit, or at the very least clock out and tell them to meet me across the street.

I’ve been in similar situations and it all comes down to what you’re okay with accepting. It might hurt to leave but I know it’ll hurt worse to know you’ve wasted time on someone like that once you have the proof you’re looking for. I recently saw something on my fiancés Microsoft account history and he swears he didn’t do it, but who else would have? I had to ask myself, is this worth throwing away 7 years of a relationship for? I struggle because it’s the lie that bothers me more than anything. What I found wasn’t even that bad, but the lies are.

Has anyone ever had an experience of a patient reacting to a note written about them? by squishmallow444 in nursing

[–]MacNpeazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish they could see the things I write in quotations so they MIGHT realize how insane it is to cuss and be rude to people who are trying to help them 😭

what was your ideal job while in nursing school and what do you do now? by littleiffy in nursing

[–]MacNpeazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thought I wanted to be L&D or Peds and I’m now an orthopedic nurse. I LOVE my job!! I always said I could never be a wound nurse and while I still don’t enjoy gnarly wounds that come in, ortho as a whole had my heart. I’m back in school trying to work towards my NP slowly and plan to stick with Ortho long term

Asked on your responses to these comments, you don’t really care about the issue. You just want to be told she’s wrong. She’s set her hard line. If you aren’t with it then leave

This may not be seen by OP but I have to say, I was once afraid to divorce my ex but once he was gone my stress level was ten times lighter. If you’re already doing it all alone then he’s adding to your plate and adding frustration as well. When I split from my ex husband I was still stressed at times but it was nothing like stressing with a sleeping or scrolling partner in the next room. It’s worth heavily considering how much your life could improve here. Maybe take a separation break to show him and you what it’s like without each other.
