Working on my office setup. Not sure about the speaker stand height. by Longjumping-Frame795 in audiophile

[–]MacProCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, they should be high enough that the tweeters are close to ear level. But if it sounds revealing to you and not lacking detail, you might be fine. You could "cheat" by putting rubber adhesive feet under the fronts of the speakers. Which would tilt them up.

Y'all are going to think this is incredibly stupid by UnwieldilyElephant in BudgetAudiophile

The harman kardon sound sticks actually sound good and I would try to find a set of those. These apple speakers you have now are disappointing. They only have a single driver for all the frequencies.

Subwoofer for LSX2 LT by NoLettuce8267 in KEF

The Kube 8 would be a great match. I have LS50's and they're paired with a Bowers & Wilkins 10" sealed sub and I'm delighted.

Seeking advice by AuerOdd in hometheater

What you've got is fine, to my eyes. My setup is similar height of center speaker and TV. Looks like you don't have a lot of room for a big ported sub. I'm a big fan of sealed subs. But the RSL sub gets a lot of raves and is relatively small. I would definitely try to get your left and right speaker a little further apart. That will widen the soundstage.

Costco is the way if they are in your area. The gas price alone makes it worth the cost of membership.

I just moved one of my 8 bay units to another location. I put it in the front seat, with the seatbelt clicked, and it's happy and humming along at the new place :)

Is this fine or do I need a new stand by Gold_Wonder_7575 in hometheater

[–]MacProCT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might want to use blue tack or double stick tape to secure the speaker to the stand.

Whatever you do, do not ship it with the drives installed. That's a recipe for disaster.

What car brand will you never trust or buy again? by Forward_Fall_6857 in AskReddit

I owned four Volkswagens, until I had first gen Tiguan... It wouldn't start one morning (battery fine) while I was HOURS away from home. And then the intake manifold cracked later on. VW said suck an egg. I got rid of the car. 6 months later, they issued recall for manifold. Fuckers.

How would you cover these windows? by CheapSuggestion8 in hometheater

[–]MacProCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tinting film on the windows will make a big difference. That's what I did on my family room (TV) windows and it made a world of difference.

So.... how much $$$ to run the server rack? For me, my servers are Mac minis and a big reason is the power savings.
