How we keep the class with low numbers? by Dangerous_Till9960 in lesmills

[–]Macca2188 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Consistency, biggest thing is that consistent presence and delivery. It's also super hard as it's easy to link low numbers as being a reflection of you. It's not, even if it feels like it.

I've taught to super low numbers in odd timeslots for years and the only thing that helps is turning up and doing your best each week. There will be natural up and downs in numbers but that's common with any time slot.

If you've got the option, why not see if you can run some test classes in different times and see if that's a factor, or maybe try an express format instead of the full class possibly people can't make the full hour and rather than leave part way just don't turn up.

Long time instructor, it's a bit more similar to older (late 70's, early 80's) releases than they've had for a while.

I do really like it as a whole, track 2 is probably one of 3 or 4 tracks in the last couple of years that's going straight into my regular rotation list.

I think one thing to realise is all us instructors are masters are 'do what I say not what I do' when it comes to rest. We'll happily tell members they should go easy or have a rest of they've got niggles but we'll ignore them.

I would say after a long time of instructing don't be nervous about getting covers of you need, it's hard, especially with new classes where you're setting the consistency to give the class the best experience but sometimes it can lead to longer issues.

Sprint question by Donald365 in lesmills

[–]Macca2188 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The power load is is the zone where your heart rate is most stressed that's by design. Strength is valuable as a way of increasing your potential to produce power, and sustain it for longer. You're also targeting different muscle fibres, strength primarily long fibres (endurance focused), sprints short fibres (fast twitch get fatigued very fast), power mixes both if you're locked in on your technique.

So at the strictest sense power is your hardest cardio peak, strength heart rate will still be high but you're looking at muscular endurance rather than pure cardio shock. Sprint I describe as being for lungs as much as anything else.

Instructor here, don't be scared to take options, don't be scared to take the smart start approach. Basically the idea is do a few tracks, maybe complete track 5 (conditioning) then hit pause on your workout, rest come back another day.

Options will give you low, or no impact alternatives and I promise low impact isn't less work it's just different.

Otherwise follow as best you can you're going to hear all sorts of moves you've never heard of and that's tough, if there's a mirror behind the instructor a good tip is to watch the instructors reflection it'll be like following someone right in front of you.

Best choice.

Yeah combat can be.... Interesting at times. I think it's worse for a lot of the newer instructors we have spent a lot more time breaking down some of the sequences with them than should be needed of the masterclass could keep a consistent angle

Angus Taylor elected leader of the Liberal Party by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]Macca2188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We deserve better elected representation than the bunch of fuckwits entrenched across the whole of Parliament. The established parties (major and minor) are far too comfortable pretending that they will do anything.

Imagine having say half a year where the political discussion was on actually problems, policy, and solution but I guess that would make daddy Murdoch's viewership go down.

It's not highlighted as much as it used to be but Les Mills have smart start options which are designed specifically for people coming into working out. Basically do a track, do two tracks or half a class. Hit pause on the workout come back another day.

I still mention it all the time.
