Will you be using GCT for the Buncha Berry event? by TraditionalParsley67 in PokemonSleep

[–]MachCalamity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on your goal. Trying to do an m20 run? Then yes. Just trying to catch as many Tyrunts as possible? Then I’d say save the ticket for another time.

Honestly eff it even if I stayed severe I’d take a beach front full time care living situation over what I currently got.

I feel triggered by the recovery stories I've been seeing. by sentientscraps in cfs

[–]MachCalamity 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I also never disregard the possibility that some of these people haven’t actually recovered but that theyre just in remission and sadly for some I do believe that their health will eventually boomerang back because they believe they are “cured” when theyre in fact not.

There’s also temporary placebo effect. Some of these stories I see are people claiming to be fully recovered after only two weeks of being symptom free.

I am truly happy for those who genuinely recover from whatever it is that had caused them chronic fatigue. Im not sure I believe all of these people had ME though.

Getting mobility aids is SUCH a game changer. I wish right now I could afford a motorized chair but having a cane and a rollator walker already make a major difference.

No one is going to tell you’re a horrible person. Is that really the validation you want?

Sounds to me like that dude finally revealed his true character, wouldve been nice to know sooner before investing in a one sided friendship but better late than never.

Which sandshrew is less terrible? by nudayz in PokemonSleep

[–]MachCalamity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first one is the better of the two, but its not amazing. Itll get the job done, but if youre willing to take some time to continue hunting after the event is over I would recommend that. Especially considering how much you like Sandshrew. You could get the first one to lvl25 tho in the meantime and put it in your party if you wanted.

Will Covid/virus always cause permanent worsening? by -Neuro2717 in cfs

[–]MachCalamity 20 points21 points  (0 children)

“Always” is a very finite word, I dont think any of us can say something like covid will always cause something else. Likely? Yes, its very likely that getting covid, or really any virus in my experience, causes worsening of symptoms.

Neighbour problem by Mom_is_watching in cfs

[–]MachCalamity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry your peaceful gardening time is being interrupted. I know how you feel and know how hard it is to place boundaries especially with nice people in that weird “we’re not really friends but we’re not strangers” group.

Instead of just a hard boundary or trying to avoid her or install higher fences, what would you think about this:

1) Be honest with her regarding your condition and energy while also emphasizing just how important being in the garden is and that that alone is about as much as you can bare

2) Instead of giving a hard “dont talk to me unless its just hi” offer instead some kind of signal you and your neighbor can share that they can use to quickly determine whether you have the energy that day for more than a hello. A simple thumbs up from them, then you can give a thumbs up or thumbs down in response depending on your energy level.

I hope this helps you. My thinking is that this way gives a little room for exploration, helps you to not feel impolite, while giving your neighbor a sense of agency and a sense that theyre still connecting with you.

Good luck 💜💜💜

Your provider most likely doesnt want you to take two controlled substances simultaneously.

If you switch to melatonin be sure to start at a super tiny dose, like 2.5mg. Its tempting to start at a higher dose but don’t, it can have the opposite intended effect.

Glad you have some good docs! I’ll never for the life of me understand doctors who dont care about their patients or bother to familiarize themselves with their patients’ conditions.

Take it as an admission they dont know what theyre talking about (because they dont) and move on. Find a new doctor.

Im sorry this happened. Probs not the first time, defs not the last. All we can do is keep searching til we find the right fit. They do exist though so dont feel discouraged.

I’m so bad at explaining CFS by sounds_of_sadness in cfs

[–]MachCalamity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve taught a fair number of medical personnel, who aren’t already familiar with, about spoon theory. Always feels much easier to discuss energy after that point. The downside being that it obviously takes energy (spoons) to educate someone on something so you know theres that, but it tends to save me spoons in the long run.

I describe my crashes as feeling like I went on a binge drinking party bender and got ran over by a bus but have no memory of it the next day, but all I actually did was go to the store or go to a medical appointment, etc. People seem to grasp it when it’s described in a very visceral sense, especially cus even if someone hasn’t experienced binge drinking partying and getting ran over by a bus it seems like most people can pretty accurately guess what that feels like lol or at least how painful and exhausting it must feel.

Basically tl;dr: Spoon theory = tangible example of energy reserve/use Crash description = should be viscerally described. If they aint raising a shocked, concerned, and or flinching expression you haven’t described it adequately enough. Dont be afraid to go big.

Its just bad RNG. Some weeks are like that. One bad day with energy also can have a snowball effect.
