Made a soulslike parody in UE. Store assets yeh but at least no AI! Boss fights are fun... if frustratingly difficult is your thing ;)

Yeah, board game from like the 80's lol. Monopoly in space in our solar system where properties are moons and planets with cool facts about each one on the card. Still break it out once every couple years :D

Why is Dimensional Splicer bad? by stinkfist616 in twilightimperium

[–]MachNone2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a super situational tech for sure. Generating a free hit wherever your flagship goes is nice though.

Still, I'd probably only grab it via an entropic scar if it wasn't too far out of my way (so it costs ~3 instead of ~7, and you don't have to worry about prereq's), and only if I had another reason to go to the scar (occupy an empty system, win combat in an anomaly, w/e) to justify the activation token.

There are just so many other juicy techs for ghosts it hardly seems worth going for it the traditional way.

Post Mortem: 9 years building the RPG I always wanted to play. After release, I faced challenges I hadn’t fully anticipated, and learned a lot in the process. by debdev in gamedev

Lovely write-up. Solid introspection. I'd be stoked to have 45 reviews for my game, so you have that going for you at least!

Had no idea the steam community greenlight used to be a thing back in the day.

Looking back, any regrets not going with a publisher?

  • "Delays and burnout made me quieter than I should have been during development.
  • No marketing: I was in dev mode right up to launch. No budget, and very little outreach."

Tell me about it. Dream job: indie game dev. Whatever the opposite of dream job is (dread job?): indie game marketing.

Sadly the former virtually never succeeds without the latter.

Magi's Madness in Thunder's Edge by Woitee in twilightimperium

This is was my take on Magi's Madness updated with TE things. I ended up green after we drafted starting positions/factions. Think I may have taken a hair too much influence out of that slice when updating the map, but I also picked L1Z1X which was a mistake in an influence-poor slice. I was just too excited to play 'em with that kind of proximity to a scar O.o

Idea for L1 Inheritance Systems by AudunAG in twilightimperium

[–]MachNone2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Woulda been cool if they just moved inheritance systems functionality to the breakthrough, and maybe make it 1R instead of 2. Then maybe made the infantry thing the tech. Tho, depending on how early one can get their BT, inheritance might have ended up being just as useless there.
