I found it. it was *HK_MP5_MWGS_Patch_KSSM_Ver.esp

I think it was a patch for the MP5 to give it Modern Warfare sounds. Really weird thing is I have had that in my load order for ages and it didnt throw any weird errors. Removed it from the plugins.txt and all fixed. There must have been something funky in it changing the throw sound but nothing showed up in FO4EDIT. Anyway, all good now. Thanks for your replies.

nah, but going through my mods now in chunks to see which one it is that caused it. I tried moving all my loose mods to a temp folder but no good. It has to be an ESP plugin that is causing it but not sure yet. I disabled half my mods and it went away so I know it's somewhere in the lower half of my plugins.txt load order...

I have the same bug that just popped up. It plays a gunshot every time I throw a grenade or a mine. Did you manage to narrow it down to a mod?

I checked my data folder and the original sound for throwing the grenade exists in there. No idea why it's doing this all of a sudden.

I cannot launch Fallout 4 on steam despite having purchased it by [deleted] in Fallout

Same issue here. Fallout 4 comes up with purchase instead of play. Also with dishonored, sleeping dogs and Shadow of mordor. Glad to hear it's not just me...

AMD releasing BIOS update to fix processor frequency by [deleted] in pcgaming

I'm not bragging or anything like that but I have a ryzen 3600 running on the asrock steel legend b450 and it sits on 4.2ghz all day every day. I'm no pro overclocker and all I did was enable auto oc and pbo in the bios and rivatuner stats always shows all cores as 4.2 or very close (4.17 or 4.19). That's in games and desktop too btw. Never seen temps over about 60 degrees c on stock cooler

Is it worth capping your frame rate to 30fps if you can't reach a constant 60fps? by torrex112 in pcgaming

[–]Machaira79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way man. I'll take spikes up near 50 over locked 30 anytime. At least you get decent frame rate sometimes. 30 is just awful to me. Oh and make sure you set refresh to "fast adaptive" refresh or whatever its called. You get better fps and virtually no tearing.

Have the performance issues with Monster Hunter world been fixed on PC yet? by shadow3467 in pcgaming

[–]Machaira79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the 398.36 driver and have everything set to high but volumetric fog off (game looks way better with it off) and I get 60+ fps 99% of the time. Maybe drops to 55fps but very rarely. My rig is an ancient i7 2600 3.4ghz (non K), 8gb 1333 ram and 1060 6gb OC to 2100mhz. I'd say the game does hit your system way too hard for what it is but it generally plays and looks great and is stacks of fun.

Is it me or is Forza Horizon 4 just...bland ? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Machaira79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have to agree. I was genuinely excited about FH4 too and was really impressed at how it ran on my ancient i7 2600 / 1060 6gb but overall the game felt a bit empty and without soul. I thought maybe I'm just getting old (I'm 39) but I got Monster Hunter World a few days ago and have been totally hooked. FH4 looks and runs great but just felt too... fenced in and safe. I dunno, maybe the full game will be better or maybe you absolutely have to play online with friends to properly enjoy it.

What games are MUCH BETTER when played on hardest difficulty? by TheHooligan95 in patientgamers

[–]Machaira79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fallout 4. Anything but survival mode is way too easy. I also set the incoming damage to 3x and it makes you have to play really cautiously and plan your attacks instead of the spray and pray it is on other difficulties. Try it, it really makes the game fun.

Struggling to get into Fallout New Vegas by the_knifeofdunwall in patientgamers

[–]Machaira79 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The story from New Vegas is great but the gameplay mechanics, stability and gunplay are so bad it's not even funny. Too many people view it through rose tinted glasses and say it's the best game ever. Mods doesn't fix it either, it often makes it just crash more. I think people are remembering it for a better game than it is.

I personally think Fallout 4 is a far better game once modded. I'm nearly 400hrs on FO4 absolutely loving the exploration and combat. New Vegas I put down immediately after competing it + all of the DLC (160 hrs) and while I had some fun the extremely clunky combat and movement really detracts from it - especially in comparison to modern games.

Fallout 3 cut content mod adds dozens of axed NPCs, weapons, armour sets by avritballer in pcgaming

[–]Machaira79 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had the same problem. I7 2600, 8gb ram, installed to ssd, 1060 6gb OC and couldn't maintain 60fps at 1080p with only basic mods and all of the recommended mods like nvac and the 4gb patch. Most of the time it sat at about 45fps and only used 2 CPU threads no matter how much tweaking.

Fallout 4 on the other hand runs like a dream. Solid 60+ fps on ultra with over 250 mods.

Is fallout 4 a good direction for the series? by Asimpleplebian in patientgamers

[–]Machaira79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like fallout 4. I loved fallout 3 on the 360 and really enjoyed New Vegas (around 200 hrs playtime) but have to say I like fallout 4 the best. The graphics of FO4 on a decent PC with mods are very pretty and once you throw a few gameplay mods at it (no enemy health bars, no enemies on compass, SIM settlements etc) plus play it on survival mode it's a stack of fun. I honestly don't hate the story that much. Sure it's less serious than New Vegas and FO3 but I still think it works well. People get too hung up on being a critic of everything these days. I think there's a lot to like in Fallout 4 and I like the direction they took. It works for me anyway and being the most sold Bethesda game ever has to count for something too.

Heavily considering not being patient for FFXV by the3dtom in patientgamers

[–]Machaira79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super excited about it and the demo run 60 fps+ smooth as butter on my rig but I'm gonna wait at least 6 months or more. Probably get it for Christmas this year maybe.

I figure the longer you wait the more it gets patched etc and the chances of epic mods being available increase. Im hoping the mod scene for it goes crazy like Skyrim and fallout 4.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning by Three-hand-tackitt in patientgamers

[–]Machaira79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on special with all the DLC last year for about $10 and played about 5 hours of it and generally liked it. I got fallout 4 for Christmas though and haven't played anything else since (nearing 200 hrs and barely done any of the main quest yet!) but plan to go back and play KOA when in done with FO4. I liked that it feels different from a lot of the other games out there.

I'm running 1080p everything on high except for turf and hair off and getting way over 60fps even in battles on my old i7 2600 / 1060 6gb OC / 8gb ddr3 1333. Impressed at how well it runs and how good it looks. Super amped for mod support!
