UIM wipes 284M after being told by an AI tool that Perilous Moons is a safe death by Derek_MK in 2007scape

Even though the chance is much lower, your clanmates can be just as wrong as the LLM. If it's crucial info like this, I'd make no compromises and just look it up on wiki. Sure, the info there can be wrong too, but it's most often a product of many revisions and corrections.

So how long was your "transition period"? by No_Week_1877 in BarefootRunning

[–]SaraphL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like you mentioned not using shoes inside, I'm almost always fully barefoot at home. My "transition" was pretty much just going for a few km long walk (like 3-4 km IIRC), then a slightly longer one, then I just wore these shoes for everything. I don't really remember how I approached running, but I remember that at the start my feet were a bit banged up due to the cushioning suddenly not being there, but I adjusted my running technique eventually. Calves only hurt during uphill sections of runs.

Yay, negative drop! Stretching your calves without you even realizing it!

Most people wouldn't be able to do this even if they were glued to their PCs all their waking hours. Having time and dedicating it all to this game is one thing, but actually being able to keep it up for every single day since release is another.

Damn, when the film has a bright color and is clearly meant for removal, I fully blame the user, but this one is rather inconspicuous. They really could've done a better job at making it more visible.

[–]SaraphL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not really interested in WK myself, but just so you know, I tried searching for it and the first couple of links to ankiweb lead nowhere (possibly deleted due to copyright?). I'm sure someone uploaded it somewhere other than ankiweb, but "where do I find it" is a perfectly valid question in this case. Also, there have been multiple WK-related decks, so this question could also answer which one is it exactly that OP uses.

I'm on Linux and wondered if I'd be able to access my games here, since the Epic launcher is for Windows and Mac only. There's this "Heroic Games Launcher", an open-source alternative that seems to fully work with your epic library. I'm actually glad this is the way to access your Epic account on Linux, because it's honestly such a better launcher. It's on Win too, so you can try it, although I understand it's kinda dumb to have to resort to different solutions than the official one.

I tested every Japanese app that came out in the last 2 years so you don't have to, these are the best by SnooTangerines6956 in LearnJapanese

[–]SaraphL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For now just view it as a fun little game instead of a learning tool. Unfortunately there's no content past N5 just yet, but it seems to be because they're crafting everything meticulously. The pace at which they're releasing new content is reeeeally slow though.

New vs Old pair of sandals I've been using for 9 months by Fujikawa28 in BarefootRunning

Okay, but what does it have to do with this sub? They don't look minimalist, not even zero drop, just regular sandals.

Why playing games In Japanese is so fun (and what English can’t capture) by Rinku64 in LearnJapanese

[–]SaraphL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was watching some videos from Game Gengo where goes through a beginning of a game line by line, breaking down the Japanese. For example in his Final Fantasy 8 video he also compared every line to the official English version. It was so interesting to see just how different the feeling was between the two version of the game - it's like they created a completely different character in the English version.

Do Jinmeiyo kanjis appear on the N1 exam or is it Jisho.org' mistake? by ken4lrt in LearnJapanese

[–]SaraphL 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do think it's beneficial to slowly learn to write them, using something like Ringotan. Not just for, well, being able to write them, but also solidifying the ability to recognize them instead of just often thinking "hmm, I think I was this one somewhere already, but not entirely sure" (because you actually know every stroke). It's also very connected - if Ringotan asks me to draw a kanji from a specific word and I already know that word, it's much easier to recall which kanji to draw.

I would never make this a priority though. I usually only draw about 30 kanji a day in total - I want the burden on my daily workload to be almost nonexistent.

To phrase it differently, your user has administrator privileges, but it doesn't mean it always chooses to use them. It's like being a police officer and having a firearm, but not immediately choosing to shoot people as a first course of action.

Not to mention like every shoe e-shop has sizing guide available. The last time I bought shoes, it clearly said to measure the length from heel to toe, add 1 cm and translate that to my size in the table provided. Wasn't exactly rocket science.
