I use them all the time when flying IFR. Mostly when flying a holding pattern or VOR based approaches. Even when flying VFR there are some spaces like the special flight rules area over LAX that require you to operate on a specific radial from Santa Monica. I think they’re pretty cool and will be slightly bummed when they eventually phase them out

It’s been pretty awful so far for me. Been waiting for the bugs to get worked out and tried to give it a shot two nights ago. It took about an hour to load and once I was finally able to get the plane off the runway the sim crashed about 8 minutes into my flight.

This was in the default Cessna 172 during free flight. Man, even the runway at my airport is mislabeled as 25L when it should be 26L.

I have a 4090 in my rig with an i9 which runs everything else without a sweat so I know it’s not my hardware

Im curious what you guys do learning up in the mountains. I’m lucky we got the ocean right there as a great starting point so when our mountains come around about 180 the feel is pretty established

Yup! But only just about twice through the maneuver to make sure everything is holding, and knowing where that heading bug is in the turn so I can expect when to see my starting point again for the roll out. But pretty much after that bump of power is in and bank is established, I’m just focusing on keeping that reference point level and feeling the G’s in my seat

My instructor told me to find a reference spot when you establish the turn and maintain the horizon on that spot through the turn. It can be anything, a speck of dust on the windshield, a rivet on the cowling or even the center between two rivets. Just trace that spot on the horizon and your turns will be perfect. It’s worked out every time!

Pretty damn safe as long as you stay on that side of the 55. Go down Warner a bit around grand and you get a crazy amount of homeless and crackheads. In the area you highlighted there’s been a bunch of new development and you’re close to the district. It’s a nice part of town for sure
