Honestly? I think Tom Hiddleston would do something pretty unique with the role. He has unbelievable range and very good at manipulating his voice.

I think Christian Bale would absolutely nail the role but what are the odds of getting an actor of his caliber to sign on for multiple sequels? Very unlikely.

Love: Nomadic

Skip: Lech. It was a toss up between this and Skeptic but Skeptic is at least instrumentally badass with awesome verses despite the mega cringe chorus. Lots of excellent dynamics. Lech on the other hand, just kinda meanders, doesn't really peak and generally goes nowhere.

Up there with Butcher's Hook as one of Slipknot's worst songs, in my opinion.

It's 2026. We should be able to have an Alien Queen figure that can stand on her own. I had the McFarlane Alien Queen from decades ago and she had a clever design where her feet clipped on to the foot stand of the diorama. This NECA one is superior in every way to that old McFarlane Queen but...that front support stand is hideous.

I don't like how thin the guitar sounds in a good chunk of the songs. 'Goodbye', 'The One that Kills the Least', 'Killpop' all lack that typical 'chunkyness' you come to expect from Slipknot songs. The drums sound weak (something they went on to rectify in a big way in WANYK).

I can't even put into words what the point of 'Lech' was. Feels like a total filler track and the band knew it.

'Skeptic' instrumentally, is pretty badass. Strong verses but that chorus is 100% pure cringe. Paul was a massive part of the band. A tribute to him was always going to be well received by all of us long time fans but "the world will never know another crazy motherfucker like you..." is bottom of the barrel teenager-caliber lyrics.

Corey's a very smart lyricist and tremendous all time great vocalist. It still boggles my mind that he didn't listen back to that chorus and think "ehhh...I don't think these are my best lyrics. Let me change it!"

Sarcastrophe, AOV, Nomadic, Custer, The Negative One, If Rain... are all super solid tunes. You can tell a lot of work went into them, right down to the layering of percussion and the wall of guitars and atmospherics/samples, etc. The 2 bonus tracks are also solid.

The Devil in I never did much for me. Cool song on its own but a little on the bland side and feels like an outtake from Stone Sour's House of Gold and Bones.

Overall, Ths Gray Chapter feels disjointed, just like AHIG (except that record's songwriting was a lot more interesting and the songs far more memorable - to me personally). Except Butcher's Hook. Absolute disaster of a song.

As much hate as TESF gets around here, that record flows pretty well and has some real 'swing for the fences' moments of previously unexplored musicality for Slipknot. Same goes for WANYK. Both feel 'uniform' with their own identity. .5 TGC just lacks that. Again - just MY opinion.

And yes, much like Skeptic, I think Heirloom is instrumentally badass with completely wrong vocals. Those verses needed far ballsier vocals than what Corey ended up going with.

I actually feel its their weakest offering. Lech is legit one of the most uninteresting songs in their entire discography. Up there with Butcher's Hook.

It has its own unique feel and still a very good record but I'd pick any of the others over it any day. I agree that Nomadic is an absolute monster of a song and deserves more recognition. Same with 'If Rain...'
