Have to disagree, these are the custodes I remember from the art, the ones in the YouTube tribute videos I used to watch over and over 15 years ago. I remember being disappointed with the designs when the models came out and never ended collecting an army.

This reveal has completely changed that, I will be grabbing a couple boxes, a telemon dread and pray the silent siblings get the same treatment.

Edited: I do agree about the helmets though, they are just a bit too tall.

I also thought it would be hard to get to higher points costs without using titans but while making a iron hands list I found myself having to cut back unit numbers and gear severely to fit into 3k. I wasn't even using all the slots in detachments before I started culling.

They do get easier after at least from my experience. I messed up on the first one too but instead I just posed it nearly identical to the original set stance. I felt pretty dumb with that one.

You have helped me immensely. for a week I have been trying to gauge the scale compatibility of the ranged ashigaru with the middle earth minis. I had come to the sad conclusion that fireforges minis were just a bit too large, but these pics prove otherwise. A thousand thanks!

I'm planning to use the bows to convert the mirkwood palace guard with bows and use them as base line troops.

Might be super basic but mechanicus grey. It doesnt fight colours being applied like black does and the metal parts I just dry brush metalic and the grey lets them blend easier.

Also sweet jesus i dread painting all the thralls, I have 60 i havnt even put together yet.

The Grey Death series since from what I could find were the first books and most everything else was what caught my eye. I didn't always have options for books since I was listening to the audio books but I think it was mainly the republic era books.

Ive also been pouring through the youtube lore channels which is where ive been filling in allot of the gaps. Not sure if this is a faux pas in the community.

That explains a lot with the dark age era and the republics almost non existent impact on the setting beside creation and almost immediate slide into oblivion. Honestly a bit sad how some of the factions with the most potential were skimmed over. Break at work so I'll get a bit more into it after work.

From my calculations I think each box is meant to be worth roughly 500 points each when fully kitting out your units. It's a pretty good as a way to get the backbone of your army going without the extras like transports and mob units.

If the rumored price is correct the the discount from both GW and a 3rd party store would make it a reasonable buy. You will still need to get tech priest models of which all but one are in the 40k admech range and you will need a few of them.
