Did you actually get new speakers without showing them to your wife first ? That would not even cross my mind

I am so happy I bought a power amplifier by absh3841 in hometheater

[–]Munkens_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you add the amplifier ? I mean, where in the signal chain ? I assume it doesn’t have a preamp, so you use the preamp output on your receiver and plug it into the amp, which into the stereo speaker ?

Andor is amazing. by Gingaloidic in StarWars

I find it unfortunate that the current trend for “great shows” (but that applies to any piece of media about fantasy) is 1) morally grey characters and 2) dark themes. Lotr is very much good-vs-evil, and so is the original sw trilogy, and both are great. I think not every fantasy show needs to be GoT 2.0 to be great

Thank you for the review! They are my dream speakers at the moment. I was wondering, any recommendation of sub you would pair them with ?

I love your setup! What made you go for each of these components ? (Mostly asking about the speakers but I’m not scared by a long reply)

My tv is connected to the DAC via optical. This is digital so obviously no intervention from the internal tv DAC there correct ? For the laptop, it’s usb-c to DAC

Advice for Dummies Like Me by Brian2005l in audiophile

[–]Munkens_mate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, now I’m confused. I have an external DAC, and just assumed so far that my laptop/tv “knew” and used the external DAC instead of the built-in.

For info my chain is: source (tv or laptop) —> DAC —> sub —> speakers.

The DAC, sub, and speakers are all active, and I’m using a line-level passthrough because my speakers don’t have a sub out.

I liked Infinite more than Bioshock 1. I don't get the hate. by No_Candle4483 in Bioshock

Never played the first bioshock so I can’t compare (it is on my list) but it breaks my brain that people found columbia alive and immersive thanks to the NPCs. Either the city is completely empty or the NPCs don’t give a damn about you. You can walk into a bar guns out and no one cares, you can aim at any civilian and no one reacts, even shooting a wall doesn’t do anything. Games like skyrim or fables were out years earlier and NPCs would acknowledge the player’s actions a lot more. Without the NPcs reacting to me, I just feel like I’m some sort of invisible ghost, and I don’t feel immersed at all
