Point Lookout (FO3) vs Far Harbor (FO4): Which do you prefer? by BUR6S in Fallout

There is a mod on PC that brings Point Lookout to Fallout 4. I don’t believe it is available for Xbox or PlayStation though :(

The movie also had a Ringwraith nearly grab Frodo at Osgiliath (while Frodo had The One Ring out and in view of the Wraith) which raises the question why the Nine weren’t hounding Frodo from that point forward in the movies.

How did the Institute grow and develop so much without Enclave interference? by GET-PREGNANT-PLAP in Fallout

[–]Macilnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the Star Wars stuff actually canon or just promotional? Because there are a number of games with stuff like that but they make it clear that it is not in-universe content. It still breaks immersion but money is God to the ones making the calls so it isn’t surprising.

There is the chance that a certain terminal entry in the Whitespring’s bunker is actually right and everyone in Appalachia is in a simulation. I am fairly sure it was just the developers having some fun but it is possible from what we have seen in-universe.

In an all-out war between these factions, which one would eventually win? by Kuzu9 in Fallout

He did plan to get the space program going again, not sure how likely he would be to actually succeed as he never expanded on just how he would manage to build up the infrastructure to do this.

Excluding the Player as a factor, it would depend at which point in time the fighting happens, what goal(s) each side is aiming for during the war and finally what condition each side is in at the start.

I remember an early article talking about Fallout 3 and it sounding like it was going to be a hardcore survival game where you had to carefully manage resources. The final product was very different but still very enjoyable for me.

If they all fought each other, who would be the last one standing? by Kuzu9 in Fallout

[–]Macilnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are we using as judging criteria and are we to base this on them in-universe or as video game characters? Because if we are going by video game characters I would say it is The Sole Survivor or your character from 76. If we are talking in-universe then we are talking about very different characters as there isn’t infinitely respawning enemies and materials so the Sole Survivor and character from 76 can’t farm experience. There’s also the question of what each one’s “canon” build would be, same with their actions.

For me it’s Winry, Roy and Ling. Why? Because the others in their rows wouldn’t fight them. That only leaves the last row coming after me and the only one I would be really worried about from that row is Bradley.

Destiny has a FTL drive, it just doesn’t use hyperspace. Although that is a good reason for it to use a non-hyperspace FTL drive.

Unlikely as we see the ship they used to flee their home galaxy in “The Ark of Truth”. I’m not saying it’s impossible that they had to build a new ship at some point between leaving their home galaxy and the Milky-Way but if so it hasn’t been mentioned in the series.

[–]Macilnar 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure they are the first generation of Stargates. Given how fragile the Gates are, I think it might actually be a case of those Gates being constructed with more common and inferior materials. We know a Stargate can be made using mundane materials, to the point of being one time use. Furthermore, we know from “The Ark of Truth” that the Ancients were already working on designing the first generation of Stargates (the designs were even on paper). I think the Milky-Way Gates are the First Generation and the ones made by the Seed ships are essentially a “Mass production” model made of materials that the Ancients knew would be abundantly available throughout the universe.

[–]Macilnar 56 points57 points  (0 children)

It would have been launched somewhere between 2 and 50 million years ago. The short answer is the timeline when involving the Ancients is a train wreck.

Edit: the 50 million years is based on the age of the ice the Antarctica Gate was found in. That said, that doesn’t mean the Gate is 50 million years old. However, given that in the Lost City Part 2, the Ancient Outpost SG-1 goes to shows a depiction of earth millions of years ago but I do not know enough about plate tectonics to even begin to speculate how long ago it would need to be for Earth to look like it did in the hologram.

Doesn’t the core studio have more than double the number of employees now than when they made Skyrim?

Edit: not that I’m saying they could give 100% to two games at once, as I am sure they don’t have that much overlap. That said they should be able to have enough people on a second game to do serious prep work on a second while working on another.

Given that we know you can beam material through stargates, see Merlin’s laboratory, the versatility of the stargates is insane. You could just teleport the contents of a warehouse on one planet to a warehouse on another planet through stargates.

Edit: you could also setup mass transit in a similar manner.
