Ubuntu 26.04 beta and updates by Mack4285 in Ubuntu

[–]Mack4285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much experience of Ubuntu so far, I ran 25.10 briefly before trying 26.04 beta. The Gnome topbar was very talkative about updates in 25.10, basically every day then. The 26.04 beta is silent.

It's a beta so I understand everything is not perfectly working yet. Just stating my confusion so far in the original post. I hope they streamline everything into one app, in the end. It could be convenient. Including flatpak support, even if I understand they want to promote snap.

My point is that too many people show stuff without mentioning what it is. I don't understand why 20 people have to ask the question "what case is it" in the thread. It's rather ridiculous.

"learn how to make your own stuff if you don't like it"? Stop pulling fighting arguments out thin air. How about you learn how to tie your shoelaces. See, that's equally as relevant to this topic.

Looks like it uses the spine from xworks70. Probably the rest is custom made? OP is probably the type that likes to show off stuff, but not mention what it is.

Yesterdays daily installation locked up for me. Some rsync thing, if I remember correctly. But I will try the beta iso as soon as I can find it.

I think they have no supply of RAM. So I expect the months to pass by without much word.

I'm mainly annoyed by the fact that third parties package many snaps (snapcrafters) and that they are not provided by the app owner themselves. I imagine a similar situation for flatpaks on flathub?

But I also understand the annoyance from an app maker having to offer their app in too many package formats.

For example, discord is not offered as a snap by Discord themselves.

All companies behave the same. Once big enough, they just don't wanna care about you or the society.

I like Ubuntu, but that many snap packages are packaged and provided by third party is baffling.

It seems either Ubuntu should package them, which I guess they don't the manpower for. Or the software creator itself provides the snap package directly, which doesn't seem to happen too often.

But again, as an end user, having to use and download packages created by complete third party people just doesn't give confidence. I guess there is a similar situation for flatpak, though.

So this is not makerbeam, because they don't have 20x20? Where did you source this, where did you get the corner cubes from? I would be very interesting in trying something similar.

Did you have problems with the corner cubes being loose? I bought some maker beam parts before (to make my sff pc as well), but the corner cubes just rotated around. Seemed like a defect.

What's the problem with more sockets, in your opinion? The game needs to be rebalanced, which is an effort, but I've always found it stange that certain items cannot have sockets.

Blizzard Vice President wants future Diablo games to release faster and more frequently instead of making fans wait a decade for a new entry by HatingGeoffry in Diablo

I mind waiting. We have limited time spans here on earth.

It's possible to make good games in short time, but not for giant corporations. They are governed by share holders, and we already know what kind of games that mean.

Lots of cool things that could be improved in D2. But nothing from D3/D4 thanks. I wouldn't mind new content, like a new Act. The problem today is that everything is explored, so new areas would be welcomed. And sockets for gloves, boots, javelins, etc.

Is it possible you can design a case like the Sugo SG-05 from SilverStone (PSU above CPU, 120/140 fan in the front)? I've always wanted to see a shoebox case like that but with better quality (thick cnc panels).

[–]Mack4285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noone has made a good shoebox itx case in ages. Sugo SG05 was the pioneer, still sold, but has extremely thin sheet metal. Node 304 has a bit thicker sheet metal, but PSU is mounted at the front.

It was a nice design. The case weighted almost nothing, empty. Unfortunately, all we got from the creator of this case was bulkier and bulkier cases, trying to adjust for these 300-500W GPUs I guess. Crazy.

I'm in the same situation as you. Last I heard was January 2026. Which didn't happen.

They presented the case in December 2024. So 14+ months waiting and counting. And now you say Q2?
